Games like Everquest, SWG, and the up and coming Worlds of Warcraft are good places to spend time with someone online because they are very much geared to the social aspect, but also allow you to accomplish something rather than just being in eachothers (virtual) presence. You get to progress together. The Sims online might be another idea.
Umm, did he even get linux to boot? Admitedly I just skimmed, but it sounds like he installed fedora, had it not boot because he didn't have a floppy, (which deserves it's own wtf since I don't think I have a working floppy and have never had a problem), and called it quits for linux before he ever got to mythTV, freevo, etc.
I'm so drunk I can't s up strait and we're asking if some mathematical conjecture has been proved? Is this really the right storey for New Years Eve? Lets go with stories about things that are bright and shiny.
I've always wondered why IM tools such as GAIM don't offer filtering the same way email clients do. The msgs are very obvious and a combination of name, msg body and exempting my buddy list would stop most of them. An icon that lit at the bottom of the budy list when you received a blocked IM would be all you would need. Click it and see blocked IM's, otherwise ignore them.
Seriously, why in the world do you need dolby 7.1 on a hand held device. I'd be happy with stereo. Hell, I can't get over dolby pro logic in my home theater. What am I going to do? Wear a halo thats got 7 speakers w/ a sub strapped to my ass?
Haha. I think a few weeks ago when I asked for one of these someone told me they would never exist. I'm going to need a new cell phone here in a month or 2 so lets get this thing to the US!
Can you point me to the howto you used? I didn't have it come right up at tldp.org. Also, I could use a simple NFS howto as I don't understand how it works and how to use it well.
What type of raid solution are you using for this? Hardware? Software? Also, what type of file system are you using to share your raid server drives? (Are you sharing to both windows and linux or just linux?)
I've lost probably 4 hard drives over the last 3 years (1 2 weeks ago, 1 I realized is going bad today). While I could raid them, I really don't want to buy double the disk space just so that I can have a raid array when I only need redundancy for 10% of the data.
I'm still waiting. I want a cell phone that has all the features of a pda so that I don't have to crowd my pockets with another device. But I want a cell phone that runs linux so I can actually make use of it with my computers. Until they get a linux phone out with wireless and network connection, the ability to take periferals, one that plays nice with my windows and linux computers and works with my provider (and preferably has a camera), I'm not going to get one of those fancy phones.
I think iTunes is great an all but I have a beef with it. It crashes every single time I try and add my music library. Granted, I havd 29,000 songs but I assume the program can handle that. They are all on a write only drive so maybe that is irritating it. And 3 drives of music are mapped from computer A to computer B which has a 4th drive and all 4 drives are mapped from B to C which is where itunes is installed, but I don't see why that should be a problem either, (just a bery poor network design decision). I really want to take advantage of iTunes but it's hard to do it when it refuses my music.
I actually put a second button in series with the normal power button because I was always kneeing my computers off. The second button is on the left side of the front bezel. You just have to push both buttons at the same time to turn the computer off/on.
People would probably accept it more as less of a GEEK toy and more of a home theater piece if you don't use a video game controller to navigate your DVD.
There must not be many people in mandrake club downloading it. It's a 2gb file and I've got 28 hours left, (started it around 2pm). Only gettin 10-15kBps though I've been uploading at 20024kB/s consistantly.
I've wanted a ps2 in my home for a long time. They sell it for 99 and they'll get one in my home along w/ FFX, Kingdom Hearts, the network addapter, maybe EOA, and the Dvd player stuff.
So what can this do? I didn't see pictures of the interface. Is it like mythtv? Can this browse pictures, play music, play movies from the hard drive? Or does it only perform dvr functionality? I really wish they would get one of these with a dvd player in it. Is it that you can't buy a license for the dvd decoding algorithm if you plan on using it on linux?
Anyway, it seems interesting. I'd be interested if I was more sure of it's capability. I keep seeing things come out that do a few things here and there. They're a pvr or they can play multiple media types, or they are software and you have to build the hardware, but I still haven't seen something that is built on linux so can be improved and upgraded, functions as a PVR, plays movies from the hard disk, plays DVDs, can do surround sound and hdtv, can play music and sort it in multiple ways, can generate, save, and play music off of playlists, can be used to store, catalog, and show pictures. Plays well with windows and linux computers on the network and is a single package, (no do-it-yourself. You can just plug it in and start using.) I think the first person to come up with such a device at a reasonable price, (say 650ish) is going to get really popular really quick. Get the early adopters, start to whittle away at the price, and finally there is something new that every home theater needs.

Remember, it's only defined as critical if it's exploited in the wild.

How do I make and get it to realize the damn home image I put on my usb key?

All of our enemies are still sporting mules. EMP-Bombing a group of sheep hearders isn't going to get us anywhere.
Haven't they been attacking DVD's by pirating the living hell out of them for some time now?
*cough*spoiled*cough*

I'm an electrical engineer so it came easily. Anyway, I don't have the room to move it. My desk bearly has room for the 3 computers as it isl

Oh Boy! for a 2 dollar rental feel I can download movies at a day/$4 that I can get for a week/$4 at blockbuster. What a deal.
Now if I only bought seagate hard drives.
