I agree, it would only have been noteworthy to mention the ethnicity if it were a white crew, since we all know construction crews are made up of mainly Mexicans, or at least those of us that have worked construction for any amount of time.
A little extra context never hurt anyone though, and I didn't even notice that the first time I read it through, and I am somewhat prejudiced myself. I would posit mentioning the race was more relevant to someone who considers himself to not be prejudiced, as it sure stirred you up.
I was thinking in the context of being at work and going outside for the routine cigarette break only to see a new sign that says no smoking. Obviously, I'm interjecting a lot, but that seems ironic to me.
I think the problem with this situation is that you expect the library to be some vanilla environment where you can leave your kids unattended. It is not, nor should it be, IMHO. Also, many of those things you call BOOKS have some pretty explicit material in them as well, so don't think that if they unplug the internet your child is "protected" in the libarary.
count me as one "sell me high quality, DRM-free music, and I will pay for it" convert, as soon as my ~$9 at allofmp3 is used up. Converted, except for, RIAA affilliated bands. I'll still pirate (or quasi-pirate) you. Jump ship.
if you can articulate a reason why rocket launchers, weaponized anthrax, and suitcase nukes are something people should NOT have easy, unmonitored access to, then in you exists the seed for understanding why guns are subject to the same logic. now you just have years of kneejerk propaganda from the NRA to overcome in your mind before you arrive at the logical truth of the matter about guns in real life
If you can articulate a reason why root privileges are something people should NOT have easy, unmonitored access to, then you exist the seed for understand why execute permissions are subject to the same logic. Do you honestly think execute permissions bear no guilt when it comes to malicious software?
Just like me. 15 minutes into my grind after I eat my spiced eggs I'm thinking, my spirit and stamina are all gone, I'm not rested, and I want change my profession.
Might be prejudice, but check out the username and his/her link is an ad search portal with a flamebait name...pretty much begging for that mod. Poor Christians, so mistreated...fucking spare me.
Might be prejudice, but check out the username and his/her link is an ad search portal with a flamebait name...pretty much begging for that mod anyway. Also, the number of girls that will not date a guy solely because he would not have sex with her before marriage has got to be statistically insignificant.
When I call, I want technical answers. So long as I can understand the other person, I don't care where they are or what cultural customs they follow.
You must not have worked technical support if you think that all that a person needs is technical information. They want to get shit fixed, and speaking a bunch of technobabble to them will only frustrate both sides. It takes a pretty firm handle on a language to step someone through a technical process that is not technically inclined.Much of my time spent in this field was not looking up the answers to what they were doing, but coming up with ways to first, understand what they are telling me is wrong (since they don't know) and secondly translating back to them the steps that need to be taken. It's not as simple as it might seem.
You probably have some good points to make, but you really need to work on your delivery. Your comments here have been rife with logical fallacies, particularly Ad-hominem attacks.
I am interested in seeing a good argument for why police can be trusted not to abuse this painfully easy method of remote surveilence, as you and at least one moderator do believe they can be. The things you mentioned above have verifiable records, do they not? Abuse can be tracked and challenged. That, to me, is the significant difference. Granted, abuses will occur in any instance, but this seems to have broader implications as on person could remotely monitor the location of many people with no record. I can think of several ways to abuse this personally, and I am not nearly that creative.
I don't know about reading the comments, but tags certainly help me find out what is not quite right on the front page. In fact, I probably wouldn't have read the comments at all if the tags hadn't lambasted the article summary.
In the same way that I don't trust you to characterize all cops interests and behavior on the job correctly, I don't trust cops to not abuse the ability to track whomsoever they please without a warrant. So no, I won't trust you, and calling me a paranoid maniac for wanting oversight is no way to garner that trust.
I appreciate your response. I am actually a former Christian and have read the bible (KJV all the way through unfortunately, but I later switched) and some supporting material, though I probably do not have the depth of context you mentioned.
I am intrigued by your perspective, and obviously it would be a bit of a chore to explain your entire religious mindset, but I wonder about some the fundamentals with your most pragmatic sounding interpretation. For instance, given the fact that none of the disciples wrote the gospels, how valid do you accept words with the red letters to be? Do you simply accept the most reasonable sounding interpretation and run with that?
I gather that you ascribe to a tolerant and rational religion. I can truly appreciate that. Though I am limited in my context for Christianity (I have only experienced the various forms I've seen in the deep south) there is one underlying notion that to me is the deal breaker, and that is unquestioning faith in what is deemed to be from God. With this cornerstone, any spokesman for God can take any part of the bible in any context he wants. This is a fairly prevalent notion, and I've heard hundreds of appalling sermons given with that sort of mentality ( this is God speaking through me) given to thousands of followers. I don't think this is limited to my religious experience, or even to Christianity. This makes the violent interpretation rather easy, the "correct" interpretation is whatever the reader/teacher says. Whats more, even if the majority of Christians disagree with that violent interpretation now as you say, it is only because they have not been told differently yet. This is my concern.
they present a twisted, militaristic, legalistic view of Christianity that completely leaves out one of the two "greatest commandments," that is, to love your neighbor.
Ah, they can't see the forest for the trees, all those old testament stories of righteous intolerance and violence are really just filler. I sure wish someone would have given me your annotated version.
Cops might not appreciate a telescoping finger pointing their location out to the people they are trying to catch/stop. Something discreet might be a good idea though.

does anyone have an account to log on that forum and ask the guy to trace down the "link" he says he moused over from his history (or some other method)? Seems like an easy way to get some more information about the whole thing.
What, you thought that you actually had a choice? Get real.
Like the old saw goes, power corrupts..
Perhaps most if not all can be corrupted, but there are varying degrees of corruption, and your resignation to defeatist pragmatism is a waste of existence. Do something more productive. Study. Vote. Tell others. End sentences with prepositions, during.

If so, then why don't they allow 128kbs to be downloaded DRM free as well?
is the line "a no smoking sign on your cigarette break" not ironic? Much of the song seems off target, but that one, to me, seems to hit it.

nevermind, shortened his name, I get it. at least I know a few other things TSP stands for now.
Look, I am guessing that you are TSP

snagit is a pretty handy little tool as well for doing documentation.
