While inconvenient, it doesn't sound like that big a deal, especially since there is the "remove duplicates" option. Perhaps they've had problems with multiple versions of songs being excluded and decided this way was better. It is more predictable and that's a good thing in these situations.
Why do you keep making the same mistake so often, anyway?
How can Slashdoters of all people get sucked in by this troll? Do people suddenly disengage their brains when it comes to the topic of the iPad? How does it make sense to say that the iPad is all about consumption when it's open to 3rd party software and hardware? Talk about short-sighted...
Ok, what is the last piece of PC software you have bought? For me, I guess it would have to be a sealed copy of Windows 3.1 just for the vintage-ness for about $2 at a garage sale about 4 years ago
You say that as if Apple's App Store isn't doing very well.
Given how big the bezel is on the iPad and that the button is recessed, I don't think it will be much of an issue. It's never been an issue with my iPhone. Also, accidentally hitting the button should cause any data loss if the developer wrote the app properly -- perhaps games are the exception. Besides, do you really think you know more about product design than Apple? You think they didn't bother testing for such problems?
If you can point me in the direction of a good quality digital picture frame than is easy to use and can be automatically updated, remotely, please let me know. Otherwise, inkjets provide much higher quality images to print out for nana, or a gallery.
Jobs is going to loose the smart phone wars just like he lost the PC wars.
You mean like how Apple's market share is slowly, but surely increasing, and that they're one of the most profitable computer makers? I wish I could lose like that.
An emulator is fine for starting out, of course. You really need the hardware to get a proper idea of what an app is like to use so that you can uncover flaws and make refinements to the interface.
The biggest new challenge with "iphone 4g" is the higher resolution - some say this will be 960x640 (i.e 2x the current resolution hor/ver), which is imho unlikely as this would be the first use of such a LCD resolution ever.
Is there any technical reason why we are unlikely to see a 960x640 screen? Isn't it possible that Apple may have a deal with a manufacturer to be the first to use a new screen?
You're still only dealing with one manufacturer, though. Apple has an advantage in that they can try and keep the disruption of fragmentation down to a minimum.

I think you are in the minority that actually needs the feature bloat of MS Office.
Terrible in what way? My experience has been the opposite.

I don't quite get what you mean. Are you talking about adding the same files to the library accidentally or something? Is this the Win or Mac version?
But the thing with putting it that way is that you can make the same argument with science.

Well, you can take your side, I'll just observe both.
Religion is used to fervently oppose science by those uneducated masses who understand neither their own religion or science.
When you start off with generalisations like that, why should we take you seriously?
Foxconn seems like one of the very most likely sources for an "iPod Killer" device, because they have in-house expertise.
For the hardware, perhaps. But do they write their own software (apart from OS drivers)?

Yeah, that's why Apple sold a million of them in a month and why tablets running Windows are rarely seen.
And just how many people need to play games while borrowing someone's computer?
Brand loyalty and marketing are different things.

"You Apple people"? Well, that says it all really. Talk about being disconnected from reality.
People don't spend as much time evaluating fast-food as they do buying a computer. You can't really compare them like you have.
Marketing helps, but it sure as hell isn't the main reason Apple are so successful.

I don't know about that. One of HTC's phones erases all user data when it does the upgrade (to 2.1, I think). Users are sure going to care about that.
What causes the increased retention? Perhaps I should have said physics?
That's fine if you spend most of your time near a USB port. Some of us utilise the mobile aspect of our devices.
