It is basic because it's minimal. The idea isn't that you get a check and don't work. It's that you get a head start to supplement a job. The problem with welfare is that those on it don't look for work because it effects their benefits. This doesn't, so while the 12k isn't livable, the 12k+ minimum wage job is.
It is universal because everyone in the control group gets it, regardless of their situation.
It will fail because you run out of other peoples money.
I think it mentions it in an attempt to stop the barrage of questions as to whether they were wearing them or not.
Especially in CA I find it hard to believe any 12 year old wouldn't be wearing one. It's so ingrained into society at this point and at least the small glimpse into the lives of the victims shows them to be in a demographic that is probably 99% the car doesn't move without it being on.
“The only time the public may become aware if the city has promised Amazon incentives is if we win and then we need to get those incentives passed,” Mr. Evans said.
These groups can promise all they want, they don't write tax codes or spend government money. And one thing Amazon doesn't want to do is award to a city and then not have it pass.
Don't they mean 'thanks to all the money give to Lebron James' charity? I believe in giving him plenty of credit, but the 'all thanks to' is a bit much.
Lol, no they just don't like the publicity of being called into an investigation for some sort of sex trafficking that has used their service. And the lines between good and bad sex are so blurred they have taken the path they've taken.
And let's see what the quality guys think of assembling exposed to in the open wind swept air with no humidity control. There's a reason people don't have production lines in tents. He's trading quality control for quickly ramping production. I'll have to agree this seems like a desperate move.
Oh, and ya, great view there of those graffiti stricken trains.
That depends. Smart people likely have a job where spending ~$500 for 3 years doesn't break the bank when you can likely recoup %25 of the cost. People spend much more than that a year for 5m/day worth of coffee.
Company that makes money investing peoples retirements says more people need to use their services in order to retire.
First, let me say of course retirement is important. But lets be clear, saving for retirement is big business for the financial world. According to them you can never save enough because every penny you aren't saving is money not on their table.
Every day I go to work I see people who seem to talk about nothing but their retirement savings. And they mock the new generation coming in to replace them because at least according to them they aren't doing anything and in stead are actually living life.
Somewhere is a happy medium. I'd rather take off to NZ in August for a weeks snowboarding now than take a cruise when I'm 70. Of course there are long term costs associated with that. But that's life, sometimes you have to actually life it.
And also break down regularly and offer no customer service whatsoever. Or should they be required to have a cell phone so they can call to determine how to get to where they want?
Miss the part about no credit card? Since when is having a cc or bank account/card a requirement to use the train? Amazes me how many liberal elite are at war with the poor, or at least self centered and out of touch with them.
I actually disagree. Amtrak is funded at least partially by the government. It's supposed to be there as the alternative to expensive flying, a cheaper way for everyone to get around, not just those with internet access.
Internet elitists should not be the lowest common denominator to take a train unless they want to stop taking tax money.
You are actually correct in it at least partly falls into the free speech realm. Curtailing speech is a big deal, it's protected by the very first Amendment in the Bill of Rights, a cornerstone of 'an american thing'. This doesn't mean it's something that can't be done, as there are laws on the books, but it does mean its a very long drawn out fight to do so.
It's not the genre. But let's be honest. They completely copied the start up scenario swapping a plane for a bus, parachuting in, and the shrinking zone. They used the similarities in the early days entice players over with its familiarity. I'm not saying its a case they should win, that's not my area of expertise, but I can certainly see it being brought up.
So they're giving the government a big database of pictures of license plates and cars. Something they already have when they issued the plate. I just skimmed through the summary but I didn't see anything about tying a person, time, or location as info they are selling. Just that they have these scanners to try to find passing my already defaulted cars.
I just don't see the business model of selling the states info they already have, not that that doesn't mean the state won't buy it anyway.
They allow for stories to be developed to show they are not perfect. Or drunk/stoned dime store philosophical debates.
A more perfect set would be only the first 2 laws. AI has no need to protect itself. That's what insurance is for, to protect the investment that the owner put into it.
That sounds really light and economical.

It's about the current trend of people believing they can survive like a garage band pre record label signing.

Every penny of what he had should be given/sold to the family so they don't need a gofundme to pay for the funeral/reparations.
Maybe having a phone constantly right next to your reproductive organs isn't such a bad thing in the long run.
Exactly, from the article.

This company sucks at running a business.

Because some people are perfectly happy not having internet? And their taxes in theory at least partially pay for Amtrak.

That would likely break laws.
