Yeah, they'll probably never trace it back to you, but for all you know someone at MI6 is filling out an inventory card right this moment and noticing that a camera was checked out a never returned. Which leads them to the person who improperly sold the camera on eBay, which leads them to you.
And? The camera had no data on it when I received it. In fact it didn't even have a data card installed, honest, officer.
Oh yeah! They're great if your main motivation is "how much can I get paid for the least amount of work I can get away with, considering I have no real job skills!"
TWAIN defines a standard interface that imaging hardware vendors may choose to support. Anyone can talk to a TWAIN interface to control an imaging device. It has nothing to do with "how the photo app talks to the scanner app", whatever that means. The real problem with TWAIN is that it is quite vague in places and leaves a LOT to interpretation.
there is something significantly different about American culture that gives us a propensity toward violent gun-facilitated crime
I strongly suspect the huge class differences that are present in American society, yet are denied to exist in so many circles. That being said, it does not have anything to do with the right granted by the Second Amendment, and subverting that right will never fix the root cause of the problem (in my opinion).

Also, I'd much rather get robbed because I couldn't defend myself than shot in the firefight that I initiated to protect 'myself' (read: my stuff).
Then don't carry a gun, nothing makes it mandatory. If you choose to, also choose not to use it in circumstances you don't feel it is worth it (which a responsible gun owner should be doing anyway).
Apple is driving the market and has been doing so since introducing the iMac
As a convert since roughly one year ago, my reason for conversion was the Intel switch. Don't underestimate this - I know I'm not the only one! iMac did not tempt me, but a Unix-based Intel system DID!
Now do you understand why we need unions? Because many business owners are just itching to go back to those bad old days.
Nope, sorry, I don't. I really honestly believe in taking responsibility for your own actions, and not trying to force anyone to give you something you don't deserve. Thinking employers are itching to go back to those bad old days strikes me as paranoia. There's always another job waiting for you, and if you don't like the one you have, chances are there's another out there that more closely resembles what you think you deserve. If not, as I said before, time to reexamine your career options and expectations. Sounds to me like we must agree to disagree.
And by the way, I never said anything about running away from a marriage. Trading in for a new model, maybe.:)
To be fair I know zero about IWW specifically. But when someone says "if you try to fuck us, we'll fuck you" (direct quote), that sounds like extortion to me. Threatening suppliers? Harassing customers? Threatening non-union workers who would voluntarily take your place without union protection? That is extortion. I admit I have no idea if IWW does this, but I've seen plenty of other unions do exactly these things.
Haggling is quite different from the tactics pursued by many unions. I'm a great haggler, who as it turns out is indeed married. Multiple times:)
And we'll contact your suppliers, customers, and everyone in your community and tell them what you did. We'll picket every place that sells your product. We will fuck you if you try to fuck us, got it?
Funny, originally you responded to retort my accusation of extortion. Sure sounds like you just described organized extortion to me.
That's all unions are. Extortion for people who are unskilled/unmotivated/unintelligent enough to better their own lot. Somehow union members feel it's their RIGHT to work at job X, and that they have the RIGHT to dictate the terms of that work. Funny outdated notion. If you don't like job X, get another one. If you don't like pay/benefits package Y, find another job that provides it. Extorting your current employer is an odd way of proving your worth for what you want. If you were truly worth it, extortion would not be necessary. If you truly feel yo're worth it, surely someone else will be willing to pay it. If not, guess it's time to consider more training or modified career expectations.
If that's the case then it's the free speech right of the company to say "Don't like what we offer? You're fired. Get out." I suspect this doesn't fit into your definition of free speech though.
Refusing to work for a wage below X, realizing in order to be paid X you need to actually work to better yourself, doing so, then looking for a different job paying X is not extortion.
Refusing to work for a wage below X, in job Y, when hundreds of perfectly qualified individuals would be happy to take said job at said wage, then proceeding to picket instead of actually attempting to make your life better, and in the process trying to prevent honest workers from taking the job you walked away from, yeah, that would be extortion.
Playing devil's advocate here, but the process of taking a CD, putting it in a CD-ROM drive, ripping it, then loading the files onto an iPod doesn't involve using an "audio recording device".
Completely ignorant question for you (or somebody): Does solar energy help in terms of absorbing solar energy to the point of helping to offset global warming? I have no idea, and this just popped into my head. Sorry if it's a stupid question, I'm a CS type, not a physical materials type.
I did exactly this. The day Vista came out I went out and bought my first-ever Mac (24" iMac) due to not wanting an OS that wouldn't allow me to do as I wish with my own content (HD downscaling, for instance). Every time I see a story like this now I know I made the right choice. Yes, I still think Macs cost more, but for me at least it's worth it.
I bought a 24" iMac on the day Vista was released (seriously - typing this post on it now). My first OS X machine (although I use them at work), and so far I freakin' love it. And best of all, it doesn't try to tell me what I can and cannot do with media I purchased separately.

(Yes, I'm a professional TWAIN developer.)
Sorry, mangled my HTML the first time...

Damn, you're right! Stoopid draconian USA! Now smile for the CCTV please.
None of that is why unions are bad. Unions are bad because they're legalized extortion, period.
There's one thing I never got: How is having non-transferable tickets a cost saver for the airline? It could well be, I just don't get it.

I'll give you a quarter if it's Britney Spears -- as long as she's naked & drunk. :)
Dude, she doesn't charge that much to get naked and drunk anymore.

That way, when the janitors at a plant strike, the electricians do too
So how is this extortion different from that perpetrated by every other union on the planet?
It's quite trivial to make a very sharp knife out of a piece of wood. In fact, I've done exactly that on camping trips.

Because Canada has the best strippers, eh?
They are nuts. I would give up my WIFE for $1,000,000.
OK, you're right. It's bullshit. I'd take $20.
I know sleazy women who will do vile things on the first date but who wouldn't date an avowed atheist.
:)
I will happily pretend to love jebus for a few telephone numbers...
