You see, it all started with this LCII I had, back in the day. You know, the oldschool pizzabox macs. Anywho, we were taking it cross country, and apparently it was being dragged behind us. Thirty miles down the road, after hearing this awful scraping noise, we got out, and lo and behold, there was this completely beaten box out the back of the trunk, and it looked TOTALED. We went to our destination, plugged it in, and it still worked. I don't know how that happened, but it did.
No, no, that's just the fan. That screeching, loud, ucky fan. That WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO fan that rivals my IBM Deskstar (which is currently about 60 dB) is running. Quit rendering crap in bryce and put the damned thing to sleep. Or, just unplug the fan.
When my deskstar's off, all I can hear from my PC is my pump;)
I remember BUYING an expensive, yet gorgeous laptop that I couldn't afford. Now, I shudder at the price of the 17", mainly because it's about $300 less than my TiBook was.
You know, every time Google sees a link in your.sig or your homepage, and you make lots of comments, it considers it a link. This may be why slashdot is the most authoritative source on "twiztidlojik".
Um.... Command-tab to finder and command-option-H to hide others.
Option-click the desktop. (Also works with option-clicking other apps in the dock.)
I think there's about a bajillion more ways.
I do have a Konfab registration code, I'm happy. But, as I don't have a TiBook (My IBM drive controller died) I'm pretty skrood. Konfab looks very very promising in terms of what you can do with it. Hopefully it won't go the way of OpenDoc;)
...The plane is, in fact, Job's plane. He can do what he wants with it.
And, as another piss-poor analogy, let's say that the school gives me a laptop. I can do with the laptop as I please. Now, say, they want the laptop back and they're willing to rent it from me. If I let them rent it for, say, $30 per week, then that's money in my pocket, plus I can do what I want with it. If I just give them the laptop and they give me $30 a week in the form of an addition to my paycheck (lifeguard at pool), then it's just not the same. I just lost a laptop, plus $30 a week isn't going to be enough to buy a new laptop until a year after they start paying me.
Also, by giving Jobs the plane, now Jobs has to insure it, maintain it, and report it on his taxes. Instead of Apple. Pretty slick, eh?
Well, at least he's only picking up a dollar. Most CEO's would go fr the expense accounts, limo services, etc, rental of the jet, AND an exorbitant salary.
Oh, w00t. Now we won't have to suck up electricity (produced by burning COAL, mind you) to make our ultra-clean-supar-nifty-wow-I-can't-believe-it's-n ot-gas cars. Which will produce more net pollution per mile than gas powered cars.
Unfortunately, the "targeted marketing via email" (read: spam) industry doesn't have the FCC rules and regulations that the telephone does. If the FCC does have a bit of control over an area of communications, then that opens up a window of opportunity for lawmakers. Unfortunately||fortunately for us, the FCC doesn't regulate e-mail, so we don't have the protection afforded to us by the FCC, but keep in mind that e-mail is/was a constantly moving target. We don't have solid, rigid definitions of e-mail like we have solid, rigid definitions of a telephone. Because of this distinction, e-mail is hard to regulate.

A static shock has a bajillion volts, but not much amperage.
analogy: "Man, there was this guy, in this massive water pipe! He could have gotten killed!" "Was there any water in this pipe?" "Well, a trickle on the bottom, but it was a HUGE PIPE!"
Usually DSL providers don't give a damn what you do with your connection. It's the cable providers that will stick it to you because you accidentally turned on, say, apache.
This was a freaking 8 GB drive. Just so's you know.
And there's no option to turn it down, I hear.
Well, I've got a nice tale to tell.

Lesson: Apple boxen take a beating.
Humph. Sounds like HFS (not to be confused with HFS+) that made 64KB blocks out of my hard drive. Dammit.

consider her ways
How'd they know most ants are females?
Nah, how about curling rinks? Or, for our new "standard", about the size of a polo field?
The Spruce Goose was wood/plastic?
I would think the geek population is a lot more than 1%.
Well, those who breed faster tend to make a bigger hole in the gene pool. Unfortunately for us geeks...

I'm such a fucking retard.
OOh. They have PConnection there, so it can't be all that bad.
The entire subculture will die off! How are you supposed to overclock your DNA memory? Oh, the horror!
"Use your own blood to make your memory twice as fast!"
"CAS.25 latency achieved with rudimentary E. Coli DNA! See page 36 for details!"

Hopefully there will be some teachers out there that can reach "agreements" with some of their students ;)
I sure don't want to shell out $150 for something I can get for $15. That's what, a 90% discount? Sign me up!
One gram?
.00409 mole. .00409x6.02x10^23 = 2.462 x 10^21.
.000000000001460598 grams per person. That's not a lot of grams.
Ok, time to whip out the chemisry.
1g/244 grams/mole =
US population = 2.8x10^8
2.462x10^21 / 2.8x10^8 = 8.7928x10^12 atoms of plutonium per person.
That would be
