    According to the fine article:

the European Commission is exploring the theoretical possibilities of forcing online review platforms into using government IDs as online identities

So, this effort isn't focused on basic internet connectivity. It's still creepy, and I for one won't be (further) compromising my (delusional) anonymity just to make an uncompensated contribution to business. It makes me sad to think of how the integrity of online reviews might be even more degraded as an unintended consequence of this action. Fortunately, TFA makes it sound as if this proposal might not become law.

There should be some procedure for reporting in situations like this that doesn't make one a criminal...an oversight board with the ability to receive any information without regard for sensitivity perhaps. Of course, the board should be insulated from any influence by the affected agency, and I'm not so naive as to believe that possible without significant changes.

Heh, you use a portion of someone else's tax money to pay 10% or whatever your effective tax rate is on community money that disproportionately favors you. I'd call it a tax revenue fail, keep the savings, and (quite incidentally and accidentally) score some green points. EV TCO is already favorable compared to your average compact, and with gas going up and batteries coming down the spread is increasing.
