I just questioned what is comparable to the two countries as far as the average citizen.
Oh God how I agree with you....I graduated from a 'premier' engineering school (while working in industry) and I can't tell you how many fights I've had with design engineers over practicality (regardless of the field) versus design 'features'. It's almost ridiculous. I once saw a picture over my student advisor's desk that read: 'There comes the time in every project's life where you have to shoot the engineer and start production'. I just thought that was funny...even if I get modded down as a MS troll....but hey, I'm in manufacturing.
Oh please...I don't disagree that anyone on the planet works as hard (except the union employees in America) as anyone else but don't blame the standard of living on the US consumer. What is the standard of living for a five star date, a decent car and a good neigborhood in India? A crack whore, a Yugo and something short of L.A.? Probably not, I digress...but the principal is the same. I will argue that there is NO American citizen, living on their own, that can sustain themselves on $5.00 per hour. That's the standard set by this country...it's not a cut on India, just a higher bar set by a society that could once afford to do that. What I'm interested in is what happens when these countries become just as economically viable as the US? Then what? What happens when the standard of living in India becomes $20.00 per hour? Will we 'in-source"? Whatever's cost effective I guess....either way...I disagree with your analysis based on the standard of living. Just because someone in India 'upgrades' from Compton to the South Bronx does not mean they're the Jeffersons.
Oh please...the university I went to did not pay for MY pencils....shit. There went $3.20 of my $120,000.00 education.....oh wait...you meant the STAFF'S pencils.....well that explains it.
I love the economic debate in 'piracy'. The bottom line is if people can obtain something for free they will. Econ 101 folks.

In my experience, JS is very invasive. I stay away from it at all cost. Even on the client side, do you truly believe nothing is ultimately transmitted? I'm not trying to be a troll but...oh whatever....
Same here...I brought a keyboard back (that I spilled beer on, oops) and exchanged it within 5 minutes. No receipt, no box, no questions. Personally I've had no bad experiences with them except for customer service. Now I just avoid the CSR's and talk directly to a manager and get really good results. Just my $.02
Anyone who has been to an engineering school knows the difference. If you're a true, degreed, engineer and you've been in the workforce you know the difference. It may be semantics, but it's true. You know...and your peers do too.
That's always one thing I wondered about in Physics 102. They taught the 'anti deccelerate' theorey; if it's not forward motion it's negative forward motion. How do you have 'negative motion" in the real world? Deccerelation is when you let off the brakes on your car and let the other forces of motion take their course. Now hitting a tree in the course.....that's true decceleration.
Then I guess by your statement that the West bank was never, truly 'shut down'. How do you access the internet with no power? NiMH batteries DO have a life expectancy. Laptops only last for so long.
I think you raise an interesting point here; you INTENDED to have other listeners of your legally acquired music...whether it be outside your home or not. Many people nowadays have multiple computers in their home and multiple media sources to play that music. It almost seems like the DRM movement is saying, "You can download the music, legally, from us but no one can listen to it but you and only on one player at a time." At this rate I think I'd rather jump back to the '80's for the technology; IMHO it was better music anyway!;)
That's the problem with CA; too many Dems and too many reps. Maybe we should even the playing field so the US is not represented by a lot of illegal aliens and a governor who has the MPAA in mind. What a joke.
That's why CA sucks. I, for one, do not want CA setting my standard of living....especially in the political arena. They may seem 'cool' but it's a farce. Their 'feel good' attitude is all but destroying this country, especially when a person visits Los Angeles, which isn't so nice. The last time I was there I felt like I needed a shower just walking through their airport. Personally, I wish CA would just fall into the ocean. Mod me down as a troll but it still wouldn't change my opinion.
Isn't the RIAA using contracts to screw artists and consumers? I think it was a good thing these artists did not get screwed into any long, unnegotiable documents. Sure, it hurts in the short run but overall their music will find a home.
