Sheesh...I usually sleep through the flight (usually missing my gourmet dinner) to avoid that contact....but hey, if someone wants to take a cell phone picture of me drooling on myself, they'll never catch me droooling on them That's why I have a window seat. It'd probably be funny nonetheless. I can't WAIT to get international internet status!
'Connected' and 'Personal' are not the same thing. Just because I can 'connect' with a big breasted, 21 yo single female from San Diego who happens to be 'into' gymnastics and drinking a lot does not mean it's personal. I'd rather find that out for myself; and that will probably be a sad day when I do.

I have an issue with the value-added = quality statement. Simply put, it's not true. Value added means the company is spending money to complete the function or process, hence increasing the cost of the product to it's end user. Any really good manufacturer tries to DECREASE the value added processes while increasing product/process quality. With today's economy the way it is and OEM's demanding price reductions from their supliers, the only real way to deal in the world economy is through process improvement. That is why there are Manufacturing Engineers, Industrial Engineers and yes, Software Engineers. Most of the time it's not fixing a defunct process rather than improving the efficiency of the one you have that makes a company that much more profitable.
Bush didn't get a direct link in your response........I'm surprised! Also, I never heard of the rich getting rich because of remarkable things. I think it's pretty much common knowledge that the rich stay rich for certain reasons; none of which is strictly IT (on-topic).......except for Bill Gates who does not count for technology.
Wow...the next US president hopeful speaks! I guess I'll have to check that little box marked 'Do you wish to donate $1 to the presidential campaign fund?' the next time I do my taxes and all my problems will be solved. Or I could just wait until I get murdered going to the opera for the $100 in my wallet and say it was the president's fault. Hmmmmm.....I'll opt for #2. If a piece of shit can find enough energy to rape society than he/she can find the same energy to help society; regardless of the poitical infrastructure in place.
It's because, for the most part, big business views IT as a non-value added service; therefore it's usually one of the departments looked at first for downsizing.

Yes but sometimes just a 'prettier' interface makes personnel more productive. Basic IE courses can teach you this.
I would wager that if Ford brought back the ORIGINAL Mustang and Pontiac brought back the ORIGINAL GTO (with ALL of their original specs) the public would go freakin' wild. Unfortunately the EPA won't let them; that's the problem. I'm not saying that, as a society, we're willing to go back to the 1950's or 1960's for our computer technology moreso than the 'stuff' back then was really revolutionary and pretty cool.
Please let me address 21/2 parts of your statement from a business standpoint: 1) Business' rarely use IM services; 2) If you're online at work to pay bills and manage personal finances you should be fired; 3) OK, I agree; 4)You should NOT be managing every aspect of your life on company time. I would not call it illegal but it's hardly productive and please see point 2.
I agree. Economics 101 teaches that a country that has no production has no wealth. Countries actually need to PRODUCE something to be viable economic contender in the world. That's exactly where the US is loosing footing. We've become so 'service' oriented (and bad service at that) that it's no wonder unemployment is up. How can you provide customer service to someone who does not work? Ultimately in the service industry you have to be able to provide support for a tangible product; and who's going to do that?
We are ALL incorportated into profit driven organizations. Do you have a job? They are for profit; if not, you would not have one. Do you purchase goods and services? Hello, they are for profit as well. I think where you're going with this is that business does not care about the 'people', however without the people there is no business. THAT'S where corporations have lost their perspective . They consider the 'people' as a burden on profits and that's just stupid.
I think it's Saturn.....not saturn; there's a difference. I don't give a shit about harley.

Just following through with their legal right? Did I read that correctly? Who enacted the law? Who enforces the law? Who suffers because of it?
Oh Jesus...to actually SERVE the American market, the market you serve has to understand YOU!
All you had to say was Economics 101.
