Anybody who requires more then 40 hours per week is off the table. Over 40 hours needs to be comped and if you are casual about my comings and goings I will be casual about doing some extra hours as necessary.
Often companies will have this sort of arrangement and a crappy manager makes it unworkable in practice, so they miss out on the top talent.
Yeah, that's what the AC above you was talking about. You have similar experience which allows you to figure things out quickly. Unfortunately, that's not good enough for alot of HR folks, or companies in general.
The other thing I see complaints about, poors with nice cars, or poors with nice phones is akin to saying this broken tv worked yesterday? Everything has a moment when it goes from working to broken and many people have a moment when they go from poor to unpoor or unpoor to poor. Sometimes you seesaw back and forth.
It's hard to know what it's like to live like that without seeing it up close. Saving a windfall makes great sense when you have enough coming in each month. When you don't have enough, that becomes an opportunity to catch up. It might be better to buy a new car you can rely on instead of buying a used car that you might not have funds to fix. Even if you "save" those funds they probably won't be there because things come up and eat those saving away.
Newsflash: Poor people tend to be poorly educated and make poor financial decisions.
I can get an iphone for $0.99 and I've seen them for free. Poor people still need phones, their not allowed to get a contract? Poor doesn't have to mean destitute.
I think someone should make a list of the advertisers for radio shows that purport to be about news. I'm sure there is some sort of correlation between the quality of products advertised and the average intelligence (or maybe education) of the listener. While NPR doensn't have too many advertisers, you certainly don't hear the local rent to own place supporting their pledge drive.
Banks are pretty high on the list of companies that consumers hate, however, phone companies are always higher. They also play more games and have less regulations.
Tell me again why I want to tie my checking account to their device?
That's true. I'm cleaning out my in-laws hoarder stash right now. I don't think this hoarder stash is the American Dream. To me, the American Dream is having the freedom to do what you want, make a hoarder stash, live a frugal life, raise 19 kids, live on a farm and raise your own food. Whatever, it's all good.
My point has more to do with you getting more comfortable in your own skin and not comparing yourself all the time.
Sounds to me like he's enjoying his version of the American Dream, your stuck comparing yourself to others to make yourself feel good and justify yourself.
For all the failings of government programs, they do way more way better then any of the mulitple private charities. Stop taking it for granted and bashing them.
If you want to learn about true wealth, read The Millionaire Next Door [wikipedia.org]. It's isn't about having a brand new car. Read it already, I won't dissect it in detail, but it's half decent.
Wealth also isn't about living like a miser. Have fun living for tomorrow, I live for today with an eye on tomorrow.
I use that feature. It's nice that my phone doesn't chirp every time I get an email offer. I may be interested, so it's not necessarily spam, but it sorts into the "promotions" box and I can peruse (or ignore) at my convenience.
Google maps has dramatically improved my commute. I know 10 different ways to get there, but google maps will automatically route around traffic problems and update itself to insure I have the fastest route. I use it all the time, real time is the only way to get the full benefit.

Indiana is so stupid we just jumped on the bandwagon afew years back... :(
Smart watches fail on look good and discrete. They look gaudy and are designed to catch others eyes so they know how cool you are.
trolltastic!
Thanks for that.

I've heard it said, for a poor kid growing up in a ghetto, drug dealer is the best option. You'd have to be stupid not to try it.
Well the sky hasn't fallen in Denmark, there is still fast food, and the workers can afford to buy stuff and live. Sounds like a good plan.
I could have signed up for it. 768 down/ 256 up wasn't very appealing.
I pass one all the time.

That's nothing. I used to work in small government. I actually got a stupid-burn from sitting next to one guy too long.
Unless it's in your backyard, amiright?

that's why he's winning.
When your both in the ground, it won't matter.
Your brother can always trim back and have your "wealth" beat in afew months. Sorry, but he's beating you.
WOW, did you just call someone ignorant? It's kinda cute if I consider your intellectual age, it's like watching a 4 year old, awww...
Males have higher lifetime earnings. Maybe you should consider pinch-hitting for the other team.

Catch up gramps.
Sounds great for upper class people who worry about taxes.
