You know the iPhone will remain only EDGE noy 3G in Europe. Outdated is putting it mildly.
It'll be sweet if he EU has Nokia's clone first. Nokia's clone might not have quite as slick a user interface. But I'll bet al the Nokia lovers prefer it. And there's no doubt it'll have way way more features.
You people are fools. AT&T doesn't really care if iPhone's are exclusively theirs. They'll get their new contracts from merely the appearance of exclusivity and maybe the visual voice mail. In fact AT&T earns *more* money when an iPhone user buys and unlocked French phone because, in that case, they don't pay Apple squat! Apple itself is the loser if Americans use grey market French iPhones.
If Apple says "you can't copy multi-touch" then Nokia says "fine your not allowed to sell any phones period." Apple might fight back with their more general PC patent portfolio, but Nokia's patents are more relevant here, plus Apple's software patents aren't valid in Europe while Nokia's patents are valid in the U.S.
Apple needs those patents just for entry into the phone market. Nokia has basically just said "we'd rather compete honestly with Apple, not just kill their trendy new product." And that's exactly what Apple wants too.
He used their internet while parked outside. Very different from searching for a cafe with (neighbors) wireless.
Otoh it's simply stupid for any cafe or restaurant to not offer free wireless. If I'm travelling, I site in cafes & restaurants, but leave if they don't have free wifi, and I often explain my reason to the server.
Just today I spent $35 on lunch but passed up like 6 places first. If just one traveller walks out of your buisness every three days, your losing 10 * (average purchase) per month, which is way way more than wifi cost. Never mide all those local who'll become regulars for the wifi. Or all the non-computer owners who'll start coming because they see a hoard of regulars. Or that laptop users will attract more afluent customers.
Yes your obviously correct : crazy Americans have done the most attacks. But attacks against government or special targets don't matter to most people. Americans worry about a very broad attacks which must necessarily be christians or muslems.
But your also obviously wrong : The majority of people who *want* to commit terroist acts against he U.S. are muslim. Does this matter when they don't have the means? Who knows?
As one person pointed out, McV "converted" from christianisty to agnostisism in jail. So I'd say "NRA nuts prefer trucks loaded with explosives parked beneath daycare centers." Yes, NRA nuts are almost alyway crazy Christians but not always. My point was more that American "suicide bombers" would necessarily be crazy Christian.
So? You give two examples that say racial profiling isn't the silver bullet. No one said it was. We're just saying that it'll help.
Timothy McVeigh isn't too relevant to airplane security since he wasn't suicidal. McVeigh had always identified as Christian. He was more a death bed agnostic. No one want's racial profiling in all aspects of life.
Richard Reid might now be under surveillance anyway for his past affiliations, conversion, etc. He's a fairly special case. You don't imagine similar special cases are being watched now?
Racial profiling doesn't mean "we only search the arabs", it means "we put air martials on flights with at least n many people with names of these nationalities."
Not all Arabs, just all Saudis.:) I'm not aware of any terrorist attacks *by* Iranians outside of Iran.
Racial profiling obviously means "used in conjunction with behavioral profiling, police work, and other intelligence". I'm not sure you'd use it for passenger screening but why not place air martials using it?
Israel has exactly the same threats as the U.S. w.r.t. terrorists. Ever noticed how all those South Americans whose families were murdered by the CIA don't infact blow up U.S. airplanes? Ever seen a North Korean hijacker? etc.
Yes, there are demographic differences : Israel's terrorists are usually palistinian, and thus look exactly like Israelis. America's terrorists are usually Saudi Arabian, i.e. half African but nothing like African Americans.
In fact racial profiling for terrorists would work quite well in the U.S. and E.U. People just aren't interested in risking their lives to hurt you, unless their religious.
Our position will only becomes as bad as Israel's when crazy American Christians start blowing up airplanes.
I maybe wanted the opposite of quotes:) I think you used it confusingly since it means something specific in legal circles. Of course you usage was correct for common english.
It's more the "inspiration" for other lawyers taking people's cases on contingency which they must fear, not any "precedent". At the end of the day, the RIAA must pay it's own lawyers since it's victims have little money & can possibly declare bankrupsy. If suddenly victims don't pay their own lawyers, the RIAA starts seeing higer costs and fewer profitable victims.
It's pretty obvious that anyone with a UK TV license should have full access. And they could sell internet only licenses pro-rated for your country of origin. But why should anyone get DRM infested crap? It's not like they've ever cared about UK Nova.
DRM free was a major opportunity for pushing British cultural exports.
A fourth power of weight is great justification for applying special rules to big trucks, and these arelays exists. Why make it more complicated when you can just charge the trucks more if their causing the problem.
{a} doesn't matter. It's fine if gas taxes are used for other stuff. I just don't want road maintenance receiving any other money. You can work out the tax rate from the maps "location -> mainanence cost" and "gas station location -> average driving profile".
{b} is a congestion charge, not a bill for road use. I fully suppose congestion charges but they need not invade your privacy so much. Just buy a sticker for the time you'll be using the area : day, week, month, or year and time of day. If the cameras see your sticker, they ignore you, if they don't they photograph your license plate & ticket you. If they make a mistake, just show some cop your sticker.
No point asking everyone to modify their cars.

I've got a simpler solution: all road maintenence funds should come from gas taxes. If you use more, you pay more, pretty easy.
Yes but YouTube has the DMCA already. Viacom is trying to change the law here. So infact winning in the court of public opinion helps YouTube lots, if the judge gets it.
I think Ebay prices for unlocked phones are normally about the same as locked contract phones. You'll obviously pay MSRP if your buying form people who want to sell you a contract. lol But why'd you buy form them?

I'm all for preventing tax havens, lets start by taxing the church's incoome.
iPhones have no cut&paste, limiting their smartphone usefulness, but Nokia's phone probably will, so Nokia's phone will be better, period.
Nokia could permanently stop all iPhone sales with it's own patent portfolio. Apple needs Nokia's good will here.
In fact there is only really ever one time when you can sue for patent infringement when you produce nothing youself & have nothing to lose.

Have you lived in Europe? Not Thatcher lapdog England. Europe.

Do you have any idea how many Jews fled arab states? I'm not Israeli, but I can't visually distinguish Israeli's from Palestinians.
The U.S.A. is a collapsing empire. bye bye! :) I look forward to hearing about E.U. nations recognizing each state as an independent country.

Yes, it'd be nice if people showed up & expressed support, even the smelly kind. It might help her emotionally if nothing else.

A day trader can also try buying after the worst of the bad news, hoping that some good news will make double his money.
