It takes 5 days for the armies to travel from Ogrimmar and Iron Forge to Silithus. Once they are there, a player who has completed the Sceptre will need to bang the gong at the gates to kick things off.
The Sceptre has already been completed by the Alliance guild Fury. This doesn't preclude anyone else from completing their own Sceptres, but there's really no reason to.
Applecare is expensive, but very worth it. I havn't seen them deny claims on anything.
I've had it on the past three powerbooks I've owned and it's paid for itself on all of them. We used to run our EQ bazaar trader 24/7 on my wife's 15" powerbook. Running the gpu and cpu at max speed for a few months straight eventually fried the motherboard. All replaced for free with in 3 days... This machine also reported that the HD was beginning t fail when I was doing pre-Tiger backups. They replaced it with a larger one becase they didn't have any 60gig 7200 rpm drives in stock. Again it was back in under a week.
For the past two years New York has had a spot where you can include total non-taxed purchases (internet, mail order) so they can collect sales tax on them. Alternatively, you can pay a sales tax fee based on your income.
It has still worked out to be slightly better for me to pay the alternative fee than to pay the actual sales tax on things I've bought online, though I think the difference was only about $10 this year. In previous years I bought far more online. This year the economy has ment that we're buying less of everything regardless of the source...
I suspect that most internet based merchants will start collecting sales tax in the next few years. I recently got a notice from CDW that all future purchases shipped to New york state will include sales tax.
I have a Tom Bihn Brain Bag for my PowerBook. When I bought it I had a 14" G3, now I have a 17" G4. When I got the larger machine, I just bought a different inner pocket that carries the laptop vertically instead of horizontally.
With the Brain Cell (padded pocket), it's pushing $200, but well worth it. Mine is about 4 years old, and shows no wear at all. They are built to take a beating, and are actually comfortable to wear for extended periods.
I got my wife one for Christmas, and it's very cool. I convinced her to open it early, so we've been playing with it for a few weeks now. It's combination of spiral, wall hugging, and random driving patterns actually work suprisingly well.
Our living room/dining room/kitchen/foyer is all open, so it's more like an XL size room. After running the Roomba twice on L setting, it covered almost everything. It looks like one or twice a week will keep the whole area in good shape. I've had it get caught on the fringe of a small throw rug that I forgot to pick up, and the sinning wall sensor brushes got tangled together with hair once. Other than that, it's been problem free. Before turning it on, i get the PS2 and laptop cords off the floor, and set some smaller items on other furniture. Stuff you'd do when using a big vacuum too...
As mentioned above, the charging time is the only significant negative I've found. I'll have to search for the quick charger someone mentioned. On a full charge, it'll do about one L and one M room.
OnSale used to do this. They did auctions for closeout/overstock/refurb items. They merged with EggHead and went out of business a few years ago. Too bad, their auction site was pretty good...
It may have been three years ago, but I assure you that that PowerBook was more than three years old...
My sister had a 3400c/200 back in 1998 (maybe 1997) that had quite a bit of RAM in it for the time, definitely more than 48 meg. My old 540c (vintage 1994!!) had a 48 meg limit. That's probably what you're referring to. It was an incredible machine for the time, but hopelessly outdated for much more than reading email now...
I bought a PowerBook G3/500 2.5 years ago, and it's upgradable to at least 512 megs of RAM, possibly 1 gig (I don't feel like looking it up). I recently gave it to my wife, who I expect to use it for several more years. For it's age, it's still an amazing machine, capable of running all but the latest games, and it's battery life still puts most new machines to shame.
My new TiBook has 1 gig of RAM, I don't expect that to be a limitation for a very long time.:) The TiBook has been booted into OS 9 once, and that was an accident made by my cousin.
There are rumors that the next NSX will have electric assist as seen in the Honda DualNote (Acura DN-X) show car. It's still a year or two away, but if the rumors are true, we should see a 400+ hp supercar that gets 35-40 mpg.
Let's see, if I start saving now, I might be able to afford one by 2010...

Now imagine your grandma receiving 8x10 hard copy of 14 porn spams per day in her living room, or how about a few hundred copies of some script kiddie drivel?
Printing over the net is great, in fact I've printed from my PowerBook at how to an HP 4550 at work, but security is a must for this kind of thing to become widespread!
there is also a speakerphone module that plugs into the side. It would be more convenient if it were built in, but the quality is amazing. The A009 also has both J2ME support and supports FlexScript applications written with Motorola's free IDE and dev tools.
We've had demo units for quite a while now. From my understanding, Motorola is just waiting on the carriers to approve the device. This device allows use of GPRS for things beyond WAP, so the carriers are a bit afraid of what it will do to their new data networks once it's released...
Of course at $5/meg, you'd think the carriers would want us to use as much bandwidth as possible... (and that much cheaper than most of the rates in Europe!)
I have the MX-500, and it's great. It has normal buttons for everything, and also a touch screen LCD. It has a complete list of devices pre-programmed, and you can also re-program any button you want from another remote.
It supports 10 devices, each with a completely different setup for the hard buttons and touch screen sub menus. I've combined devices, so I only use 3 buton sets, Tivo/TV, Receiver/TV/DVD, and Receiver/CD/tuner...
Also, I had to change the batteries just this week, and I was a bit apprehensive about it losing all the programmed info, but it didn't, and all is well. I think the batteries lasted about 10 months, but I'm not sure exactly when we got it...

Right there with you. I was building web sites for college classes in '93...
Clearly. I thought of Agatha Heterodyne immediately when I saw the post.

ack, this was supposed to be a reply to the Girl Genius post...

You didn't search on "iphone", 169 million results. :)

Ahh, the classics. Bitchin' Camaro, Dean's Dream, Stuart, Beach Party Vietnam... :)

All the Motorola combo devices have radio off modes specifically for planes and hospitals. i.e. TP935 pagers and the new Accompli 009 phone.
