No need for you or user to do that "examine code".
IBM and SGI have both code pieces, and since IBM is having legal dispute with SCO, well, your wish will be granted during trial, and looking how big IBM is, I think they will be very exact code tree examination.
And looking at two factors: 1. SCO is not willing to take any approach to solving problem (FSF approached them, they didn't answer), nor willing to take any solution as creditable 2. SCO is currently making more money than it would if problem would be solved
the only solution is to take this to court as soon as possible. Then everything will matter again. Until then just let SCO bark as it does.
Having both codes, this was the first open explanation about code exuality in System V and Linux. And for the first time someone openly started to tell which small parts that are. And even talking about fixes.
Thanks, this might prove that SCO is nothing more but greedy business graduated troll
It's on top of the page, and one can wonder how far did you read;)
I can get by with the one in Gnome's office suite
Actually Sodipodi is far better, the only thing I wait for coders to implement are boolean operations between polygons. After that I got all I need (I us sodipodi even now after I switched of Illustrator, just as I switched to Gimp from Photoshop), but my needs are very specific and limited (I only do handdrawn RGB illustrations) so I can tell only for me
It's too bad really. It looked promising
Yep, here you really hit the bullseye, I tlooked more than promising
NOTE: Due to demands of other projects, Mediascape has temporarily suspended development of Artstream-Linux. Consequently, these distributions may no longer be compatible with later Linux kernels. The GPL has very specific requirements about software that uses patented technology. Basically, regardless of whether or not fraunhoffer requires licensing fees means little. The only person that has a right to distribute GPL'd mp3 based software is Fraunhoffer. If Fraunhoffer did that, anyone could use MP3 GPL software for Commercial or Non-Commercial purposes.
Yep, but you're wrong in one way. Fauhoffer only intended to make this packages this way. Software players are still allowed to be GPLed after MP3 specs. Changes for free software players were only intended. SO HAT MAKES GPLed MP3 player still a valid piece
It's really dissapointing to see that 30% is commenting on guys name. 30% is commenting on grammar mistakes 10% is commenting on wrong hyperlinks 20% is commenting if Linux is UNIX or not 9% are trolls 1% actualy managed to stay on topic
My best guess is that all/. people that: always bitch on how clipboard doesn't work lack of 3D Desktop drawing and translucency lack of KD, GNOME, X11 cooperation no default printer interface etc.
don'teven nearly realise that:
Havoc is one o the leading people on freedesktop.org, which should provide KDE-GNOME cooperation,
freedesktop.org and Xouvert cooperation would solve more than people would wnat (standard SVG library, standard clipboard, 3D desktop, standard printer interface),
that Xouvert should be fully transpaent to XFree, so exchange would be a piece of cake
By the way, he said one truly correct thing: eople bitchin' about over such things are not developrs that contribute to either project, mostly those ones are users who preffer one interface over the other
After reading my post again I realised where the trouble is.
What I ment was: With or without magnification this approach to file system is still stupid. I just can't imagine troubles people would have with 3D fs layout, when there's a lot of users that have problems with 2D, which is far more simpler to imagine than 3D.
This representation is feasssible in some movie to produce high tech feeling, but in real life is unusable
Since you tested it. Does it have some shell terminal with ssh?
If this answer is yes, then sucker will be mine either way. Or they start selling it in Europe or I move to China.

Aethera is KDE software, file dialog problems are in Gnome. But as a Gnome user I don't find them to be so bad. They will be better, but as I'm happy to predict, they'llrock just as any HIG solution in Gnome.

According to publications they are going to contact as many organisations and support as many standards as possible. That's something that XFree never did.
Yep, especially after MSN, ZDNet and CNet news publish SCO story.
You know average people don't read Linuxtoday and/. and their thoughts on this subject are based upon a media they read. And to be as hellish as possible, local papers probably reffer to this subject based on this stories too
For your missfortune I've dispossed of all but 2 G4s which are running MacOS9 (both still my missfortune and still needed). Powerbook and G4 with MacOSX just wasn't what I needed and in reality I HATE APPLE (sigh* if only wouldn't be forced to use them).
but zsh is widely deployed in linux too. But as far as I remember (it was long ago, it might be even wrong) when I've been working on SGI there was no zsh. Off course, now I lost my touch with SGI so I really wouldn't now, and yes what about Solaris, AIX and HP/UX. With HP/UX I had a brief meeting on university but others I missed.
heh, I"m $bash addict, there are few things I couldn't live without, but I'm mostly forcing my self down to basic $sh, just to be all-unix-default compliant
decent firewall script For common user, redhat-config-securitylevel or menu Applications - System Settings - Security Level (enter administrator password) Choose between No, Normal, Maximum, Normal has proven to be sufficient for average users
download the latest patched kernel Click Red asterisk that's blinking in your left corner. Click Launch up2date (enter administrator password) - Next - Next - Finish
In linux you have far more control over the system and can do far more damaging things, as its less restrictive than windows Yes, I agree, but only when I'm root. When I'm using my user account system is far better protected. Again user don't need to know what console is.
so you can't say windows doesn't stop users being stupid because linux doesn't make an effort to either Actualy it does, if you read what I answered
To protect your self from posting stupidity, try running system before you wanna join the critics.
And yes, there is a major difference
When you set up Windows you start as Administrator. Most people even without password. First user that you create is still administrator and again there is a possibility to have no password
When you set up linux, you MUST enter administrative password that can't be blank, but redhat starts firstboot script on first login. Here you MUST enter your username and password, by the way, default password length is 6 characters
Maybe it is a fact that I use correct order to PATH, thus allowing me to disable such stupidity.
Simple shell script: Check pathname to see if complete folder of existing user or lower layer is to be deleted, and ask if that really is your wish. By the way if you check runlevel and use Zenity or XForms for runlevel5. you can make it preety.
Actualy I made that because I like to test things on my computer first, and with check that doesn't mean that I like to delete my machine
Funny, you say that. That excuse is getting to its old age.
But it makes a great difference (on Windows) right in a moment after you: step1) Disable Internet Connection to Explorer and Outlook (almost no one virus can connect to internet to download it's other part or upgrade, because they mostly use ActiveX download object) step2) Start using Mozilla or Opera or even better Thunderbird and Firebird (in this step you disable IFrame and OCX viruses) step3) Teach users not to open.pif and.vbs (Here you stop user interaction for virus to be downloaded)
Problem with Windows is not 95%, but IE and Outlook are made as centerpart of the system, thus allowed to any action no matter how stupid it is.
Based on that: YES, Windows is insecure in its roots.
No need for you or user to do that "examine code".
