If Windows XP sold in the US for $50 a copy(In a dual full/upgrade version, people would be complaining about Windows nearly so much? I would say not...it would also greatly reduce piracy of Windows.
liberalism isnt about government paternalism...liberalism is pro-market thats why the lefties call themselves "progressives" now so as not to be confused with those "awful neoliberals".
No one group whether it be big government or big corporations or big media should get control of the internet. ICANN works because it is content neutral, and somewhat independent and it doesnt care who controls the internet it just cares about numbers and names.
One problem with you post I never said "politically correct movement" Your quote is actually quoting a response to me.
It is politically correct to use "enviromentally friendly" chemicals in manufacturing. However often the original chemicals chosen were chosen for a specific reason and that the replacements are inferior or unacceptable for the purpose...
just like the enviromental choice of using thinner toilet paper to save the enviroment only to find out a) you have to use more to achieve the same amount of cleanliness b) the lack of absorbency results in a decline in hygeine.
The Politically correct change in chemistry results in more equipment in landfills not less!
This is almost as funny as all those dimbulbs who choose paper over plastic "to protect the enviroment" even though their paper probably used chemicals that polluted water, and the paper probably came from some asian rainforest.
The ultima online control system allows you to do the same things in much easier ways more intuitive ways. Ultima also has the advantage for people who dont want to be combat monsters.
On the other hand the Everquest trading system seems to work a bit better than the chaotic Ultima system...but it does seem contrived.
Im getting redundant rankings even though Im the first post on the topic, and Im offtopic even though 5 people have responded on the same thread with topic relevant replies. Thats a load of bullcrap.
You write the movie...and the plot should not suck.
The first three star wars movies were episodes IV-V-VI and these were each made over a 6 year span.
The difference between lord of the rings and SW/ESB/ROTJ versus the matrix sequels is that the first two there was a story that needed to be told. In the Matrix, they didnt have such a story.
Of course you can still have a story that needs to be told...and it still suck because of lousy execution.
This process can use ANY oil, not just the nice sweet crude from Saudi Arabia. What is the benefit of this
1) Oil from sources that are not usable now. There are many areas that have high sulfur oil that would pollute if burned but could converted into usable non-polluting hydrogen.
2) Once you have a workable fuel cell that runs on hydrogen (with some oil-to- Hydrogen converter) you can fairly easily just switch over to your nice politically correct solar created hydrogen which will by then be much more economically viable and not just green welfare.
3) Even if you never got beyond a gasoline powered fuel cell, the emissions would still be FAR less (90+% less) than an internal combustion engine.
There were M-1 garand sniper rifles that did have a high tech realistic touch called a "clip". Springfield bolt action rifles are from 1903. Garand rifles came about 1936.
not the idea for the show. The idea for the show could have made for legendary material. The problems are
1) Too much winging it...they didnt seem to know where the show was going before they started it.
2) Chemistry...or the lack thereof. Even conflict can make for good chemistry.
3) Wheres the Villain? Evil futuredude doesnt cut it, and the Xindi are boring. Timetravel is like sweets you cant eat chocolate and marshmellows for dinner.
4) too many lame duck characters...people who should have been written off the show are still there.
them. Had apple been getting $100 per machine for Apple OS and apple hardware rights...you better believe Apple would be in a a stronger position. If Mac Clones were making up 25% of the market and Apple was getting 10% pure profit cash for everyone of them, Apple would be a much stronger position. Plus Apple could still make its own hardware, and let the clones cover the commodity end.
Windows 98 has largely been ignored by the virus writers for the past two years. The superworms this year that took down my school districts entire network of w2k machines didnt harm the windows 98 machines at all.
As for the claim its not meant to be apple style...come on! You better believe there is going to be an apple tie-in somewhere...and why not? At least in this case it would be APPROPRIATE. Robots and computers go together like peanut butter and jelly.
even then the athlon 64 beats the 3.2 p4 80% of the time...and the fx-51 runs pretty close to the P4EE, remember the P4EE is an optimized THIRTY TWO bit chip... Athlon 64 is not even running in 64 bit mode on those games.
Maybe on taste tests(youre not supposed eat THOSE chips) , but most real world tests show the Athlon 64 3200 going neck and neck with the P4EE (a jury rigged chip with 2mb of cache that sells for $974 on pricewatch. The only way a pentium 4 2.8 could outperform an athlon 64 is if the Athlon 64 was on a PCchips motherboard and I think the Athlon would beat the Pentium 4 2.8 even then!:P
While geeks are smart they dont know the law. If this new company wrongly accused him of incompetence or negligence he has have every right to sue them. The sooner the better..... He doesnt sue his employer thats bad for future employment. He sues this third party and then subpoenas exactly what they told his employer about him.
In addition to libel, and defmation there is also tortious interference with business relation(ie your employment with this company)
So what if wal-mart buys crap from China, so does Target and K-mart and everyone else. Why should I have to pay $500 for a 27 inch tv, when I can pay $125 for a chinese one and then buy dvds and videotapes that give money to good jobs for American employees in film studios.
As for people complaining about Wal-mart putting local businesses out of business. These businesses had no problem putting THEIR competitors out of business. They also never cut prices to help their customers. We dont owe them anything.
This myth about the "shop around the corner" being put out of business by walmart is just that...a myth. Wal-mart doesnt compete with little boutiques, they compete with grocery stores, and department stores...and do so very, very well. I shouldnt have to pay 20% more for my groceries or goods so some $8 an hour worker can keep his job.
The interference is only an issue for above ground powerlines using this technology if im not correct. Sure burying the powerlines would be expensive BUT if they had the potential of making money off broadband, they could afford to bury the lines that would be used for broadband, right?

Bill Gates could write the EU a check for a 100 million euros every single year for the next 100 years and not miss it.
The discussion as I imagine it....
The EU: We fine you 100 hundred million euros
Bill Gates: Do you take Mastercard?
and vice versa.

making fresh and relevant...not to mention hip.

Athlon 64 can address 1 terrabyte of memory
The limitation is really a motherboard issue.
Wow it only took 10 years to get reliable sound support into the kernel ;-)
