Not one single archtype. There are degrees of aspergers severe enough to be qualified as officially aspergers, and degrees that get labels like Not otherwise Specified (NOS).
2) The restrictions on sales of US beef predate Mad cow by about 15 years...and Im sure Mad cows was what prevented washington apples from being sold in Japan
1) Requiring motorcycles over a certain CC level to get some sort of special certification thats nearly impossible to get also prohibiting tandem riding...of course the only motorcycles that had fit within both of those groups... american Harley-Davidson. Once they removed the restrictions Harleys became one of the top selling premium motorcycles in japan
2) Keeping less expensive better quality American beef and agriculture out of the japanese market. Dont the japanese wonder why their beef is so much more expensive than world price?
It was britain who started the shooting in the revolutionary war. They are the ones who refused to negotatiate. The colonists did not want independenc e until there was no other realistic choice.
the civil war ended slavery at the cost of 600,000 american lives(5% of the white male population died in that war the equivalent of killing 8 million people today). However most other countries ended slavery without killing half a million people and destroying an entire region in the process.
Iraq started the Gulf war The taliban came to power through violence Saddams whole MO was brutality.
There is a diffeence between defending yourself/protecting others versus using violence as a solution to social and economic problems. While you can actually use violence to solve problems the cost of doing so is far higher than other means.
The Pax Romana was 180 years out of a 1000 year Roman civilization. The Punic wars predated the Pax Romana by 200 years, in between they had nearly constant bloodshed, it was the desire to see the end of the wars that led to the ascension of the empire and the collapse of the republic.
However Romans failure to settle differences with its neighbors except by war eventually led to their destruction. Maybe the appropriate saying is not "violence never solves anything" but instead "he who lives by the sword shall die by the sword."
The cost of maintaining their army did eventually bankrupt them.
The correct quote is "violence never solves anything".
Violence may wipe people off the face of the earth but it does not solve problems. Sure rome destroyed carthage but their politics never let them have long-term peace and the cost of their military might eventually bankrupted them.
While the Republic of Venice did fight some wars their politics allowed them to find solutions that were much less costly than wars. Venice as a small state still lasted over a thousand years from the height of byzantium to the coming of Napoleon.
Kodak digital cameras are not for pros thats not who they are marketing to. However many people have 35mm cameras, when they go into the store...they see weird looking squares or Kodak cameras that look like the cameras they own. My first digital camera was a Kodak(dc3200), so was my second (dc3500) and so will likely be my third (possibly a dc4530).
It is now the Number 2 seller of digital cameras...

The company is profitable paying a 1.7% dividend.. with a 30 P/E ratio not great but certainly not evidence of bad management
The goofball who posted the article seriously misquoted in what I can only call sloppy journalism.
Kodak was at its 20 year low IN SEPTEMBER, now its up 20% over its low. Carl Icahn did not bail out, he CASHED OUT.
Kodak digital cameras are not for pros thats not who they are marketing to. However many people have 35mm cameras, when they go into the store.
Yes Kodak has trouble with its transition, but a 20% market share in digital cameras with solid growth aint a bad place to be.
The reason why the original star trek was good was more due to the work of people like Harve Bennett and DC fontana and in the movies Nicholas Meyer.
Roddenberrys influence on TNG was more constrictive than inspirational. Wesley in the orginal character concept was supposed to be a girl...a Leslie crusher wouldnt be nearly as irritating. If you look at all the TNG and later series...Deep space 9 was the most true to the spirit of the old series with its own distinct flavor versus the blandness of the berman and braga produced series.
Enterprise I will say is finally getting better. Enterprise should have been a great series from the start...but B&B tried to make it voyager in the 22nd century.
The thing I liked about Stargate sg-1 is its tight writing but its refusal to take itself too seriously unlike TNG.
Not only is there no requirement for US citizens to carry a national ID, THERE IS NO NATIONAL ID. There are state drivers licenses and there are passports if you wish to travel overseas...currently unless you are driving...there is no requirement to carry id. You do need an ID to fly, but thats only for the airport itself.
Notice I said "energia type" boosters...the energia company is still in business and they are working on a super sized soyuz rocket to lift the larger capsule into orbit.
They could have come up with that soyuz type 6 person transfer vehicle 5 years ago. Think of all the useful science we could have done with 6 people instead of 3.
If we want to go to Mars why not use Energia type boosters to put our mars craft into orbit. If we want to go to the moon, the Russians are the only ones with the knowhow who can help us do it affordably.
The common law that was the basis of the constitution treats violation of copyright and theft as two entirely different acts.
In the constitution the reasoning for copyrights and patents is not a property right but an authority given to congress to secure an exclusive right for authors and inventors for a limited time to promote arts and sciences.
copyright violation is only a criminal act because congress specifically makes it so. The author and inventor have no claim as victim unless congress specifically grants them such a grant of authority.
Theft is a crime under common law and under the laws of all the states. A state did not need a specific law against theft as long as they recognized common law.
It seems to me like Microsoft possibly used its monopoly in operating systems to delay the adoption of Athlon 64 processors. Whether it is collusion or not is unproven but it smells like it.
1) D&D is bigger because D&D was first. It has 10 years lead time on other modern gaming systems. 2) any gaming system can be acceptable with a good gm, but if you have constantly use modified rules and change the objectives the problem is the system. 3) I was not expressing an opinion on D20, ONLY on D&D itself 4) While I agree that many games do get their players from D&D games...you can also say many people have been turned off from roleplaying entirely by D&D.
I played D&D for several years, the system ITSELF encourages bad roleplaying(munchkins), depicts genocide of "evil" races as a good thing(see that lovely alignment system)and generally promotes a rigid view of roleplaying.

Except for the people who play D&D nobody takes it seriously in the tabletop RPG community. Its the game you play when you are 15, before you learn about things like GURPS or Champions or White Wolf.
"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized"
What part of "secure in their persons , houses, papers, and effects against unreasonable searches and seizures" does this "person" not understand.
This whole "no right to privacy", is just some neo-con bullcrap that is not supported by either case law or common law. It belongs in the same category as military commissions and martial law in that they have the appearance of law but are not really legal. They are typically called "violations of civil rights under 'color of law' "
Even if microsoft cannot trademark the word "windows", its perfectly fine for them to trademark "windows 95", "windows 98" or "windows xp" which they probably already have done. The term windows by itself does predate windows 1.0 since it was used commonly to refer to macintosh folders(ie "open a window).
I think their case against Lindows is a bit iffy. A reasonable case can be made that Lindows is trading on the commercial reputation of Microsoft not just using the term windows in a generic manner.
However even if this is true both the Apple Macintosh and Commodore Amiga were using generic "windows" before the Microsoft product ever came out.
