    I think everyone needs to wait till beta 2 to see how LH is going to be like

    the WinHEC build + my 9800pro with "glass" enabled runs slow as hell.

    I know it was a pre-beta build but all the LH builds so far are pretty laggy once you enable the 3D effects.

    putting special BIOS chip in the mac would be a nice start.

    Also, since OS Xi would only support a very limited range of hardware that apple ships with their hardware, it's probably going to be pain in the ass to write the drivers and get it to run with your homebrew machine as well.

    If you want to shop the edu store online, you need to enter your student ID, might be a little bit hard to come by if you don't know anyone going to school atm and when i tried to buy the hardware with edu discount in my university bookstore, they always ask for my student ID.

    here is a little comparsion (all prices in CDN):

    20 inch LCD: EDU: 899 REG: 999
    23 inch LCD: EDU: 1649 REG: 1899
    30 inch LCD: EDU: 3549 REG: 3799

    Power Mac G5

    this is totally untrue.

    Ford is developing the WHOLE system in house this time around, the reason: they don't want to buy old technology

    yeah, that would make sense since you will need an emulator quick for the xbox 360 project, but keep in mind when MS bought VPC then, they said it was for enterprise customers that have legacy software that would only work in NT4 so emulator is the only option if you are depolying Windows Server 2003.

    well.. i guess it all depends, you can't exactly get Athlon64 4000+ and a beefy video card on your laptop, but laptop does have its advantage (you get a screen, keyboard integrated etc)

    to each of their own i guess

    yes you can.

    go to -> Windows Task Manager -> view -> select column -> check virtual memory size

    For those of us who don't have the $$$/limb/child for a new PBook, you can download a very nifty app called the SideTrack, it does side scrolls, mapping corners for functions such as expose.

    indeed, when williamette came out, i (among most people) think it's the biggest joke ever (I think those initial 1.4ghz parts are slower than PIII @ 1Ghz)

    And from an overclocker's prespective, "desktoplization" of Pentium M means that you can way more headrooms to play with. As it stands, I think Pentium M @ 2.8ghz outperforms everything out there right now (including FX-55).

    dude, alienware basically is using nvidia's SLI method for their alx boxes

    noticed that they were using two 6800s for their benchmarks?

    Good question

    have you noticed that most games nowdays include both single/online element?

    whereas the single element can be played without having a legit CDKEY, but if you want to play online, then you will actually have the buy the game.

    So single player mode is more like a demo anyways.
