  1. Sell CDs with tons of MP3s on Fallout from the Internet Debacle · · Score: 4, Insightful

I say the recording industry should just go with the flow and sell CDs full of MP3s already pre-ripped. Sell the convenience of not having to do it yourself.

  2. 385 bits of computer code on MS to Implement Some DoJ Settlement Terms Preemptively · · Score: 2, Funny

This Reuters Market News article says "Microsoft said it plans to disclose 385 bits of computer code and internal operating rules, previously kept secret, that outside software developers can use to write programs to run on Windows."

I calculate this (385 bits) to be about 48.125 bytes. I'm not impressed. :^)

A main problem I see with this is that we could deplete our oxygen supply. Get ready to breath WaterVapor/Nitrogen mix. CO2 can return the O2 via plants. How can the cycle be completed returning O2 from H2O ?

  7. Judge Jackson had the best plan on Microsoft Case Enters Crucial Penalty Phase · · Score: 1

I hate to see the government get into software design. The spliting of Microsoft into 2 parts (OS and everything else) seemed to be a fairer plan to all and easier to maintain than what we will probably end up with. By the time the government remedies take effect it will be too late to address the original problem anyway. Private lawsuits will have to take up that slack.

  8. Next, Randomly Scanning monitors on CRT Eavesdropping: Optical Tempest · · Score: 2, Insightful

I can see it now. Random scan order on your monitor. CRTs will (probably), eventually be a thing of the past and replaced with somthing that doesn't have a scan timing to be deciphered.

Both aquatic frogs, like leopard and bullfrogs and terrestrial frogs, like wood frogs and toads, have fascinating strategies to cope with temperatures below freezing."
