    I agree. The look and feel of Microsoft operating systems has changed considerably.

    DOS
    Dosshell
    Windows 3.x
    Windows95 (non IE)
    Windows98 (browser driven)
    XP
    etc..

    each had a different user interface


    I've been using the same user interface (olvwm) with linux since 1994

    Because I can.


    Linux requires less "retraining".

    I think Microsoft will fork itself to death.

    The general rule that I see nowdays
    is that people still use Microsoft
    for its backwards compatability

    not its new features.

    Weight scales with a cube function

    Parachutes are mainly a surface area.
    They scale with a square function

    They get more efficent with a larger scale.

    Also contributing to this is the reynolds number.
    i.e. small scales go inefficent (turbulent) at a slower speed.

    Trust me, I'm a parachute rigger.

    If you put you thumb over the end of a paper (or plastic) straw
    you can jab it through a raw potato like a dagger.

    Sealing the end allows the air pressure to build up and make the straw super rigid.

    I understand the need to insure that documents are complete
    but I think PDFs are a pain to view and/or print out.

    A better system would allow copy, paste and editing
    yet still indicate (by hash code digital signature etc.) whether or not it has been modified.

    install the CD into a virtual machine
    and then just copy the entire virtual machine.
