  1. Teaser? on Star Wars II (Attack of the clones) Trailer · · Score: 1

Let's hope the title "Attack of the Clones" is just a teaser as well as this clip. That is the worst thing Lucas has done since creating Jar Jar Binks (whom i've heard is on the Emperial Council!). I may wait for the video on this one... but we'll see. Episode 1 was very disappointing, seemingly focused on a pod race and a tribe of moronic underwater creatures.

Um, I was referring to MacOS X. There is no need to reboot the OS if an app crashes. In my experience, 95% of Win crashes require a reboot to regain any semblance of stability to the system. I'm an internet/multimedia developer, for all those wondering. I assume Linux is just as stable as MacOS X.1, although I haven't had time to install my copy of Linux PPC successfully yet. Linux has got nothing on the MacOS installer programs...

I don't think that Apple designed the iMac to be a server machine. Try rackmounting that egg! Actually, in my G4 (450,Atto U2SCSI LVD w/Quantum Atlas 10K), I have a mail app (apple), jakarta tomcat on apache, mysql, jedit, 3 browsers (ie, NS 6.2 [for fun...not], Omniweb), bbedit, word x (preview), samba, and other random apps running all at once. Nary a page out, too (get a gig of ram and you'll never have to swap out again!).

I suspect you have an older iCrack with a small amount of RAM, and perhaps an older version of the OS, maybe even 9.0. Get more Ram, latest patches. Better yet, get an PowerBook G4 or a quicksilver if you want an awesome Web/DB server machine that will hardly ever (can't say never for sure, only had X.1 running straight for a month now, since I got it :) ). I'll take my OSX over XPee any day of the week.

My computer at Work (Win NT) is constantly getting blue screens, unexpected errors (access violation), and other freezes. My Mac at home, which I do the same things on, is rock solid, and doesn't look like a throwback to the 70's.

My girlfriend's Dell XPS was having problems a few monts back, it would run for a period, then shut itself off, with the only way to get it back again was to unplug it, then plug it back in again, and would work for decreasing amounts of time with each use.

So we called Dell Support. We told the firs person about the symptoms, and he decided to send us a new MOBO. Ok, I didn't think that was the problem, but ok. Once we got it, we swapped it out and yep, same problem.

So we call back. This time, the tech support guy's reccomendation, and I quote, "I suggest you get a shotgun, point it at the computer, and fire. That ought to get rid of the problem." I immediately asked for his supervisor, and rumor has it, he was fired.

After next getting sent a new processor (after i told them I thought it was in the power supply), and determining that that wasn't the problem either (and having them send us 4 bios versions to try), they finally sent us a new power supply like i asked each time, and viola! It worked perfectly.

The moral of this story is, don't always trust Dell support, unless you want bullet holes in your computer. MORONS

I think you are just pissed because you didn't think of it first. I agree, it is a bit expensive. However, I think the price will come down.

Wasn't the 6GB Nomad $400 when it first came out? Could you use that as a HD? Could you fill it up in under a minute? Could you charge it over the same cable you were loading it up with? Did it automatically sync with your computer? Nope.

Get off your high horse and realize that just because the individual comonents aren't unique, the combination of them all is, and that's why it'll sell, regardless of whether some /. moderator thinks so.

I also agree that the price of CD's are WAAAAY inflated. The price hasn't dropped in 20 years. You cannot tell me that the manufacturing costs haven't gone down, adn the price of the media hasn't dropped. The price of the Cd should have dropped as well. Highway robbery if you ask me.
