I personally thought moaning mertle was far too *cute* and actually looked older to me than a student would.
I envisioned mertle as being a dopey, ugly girl, not a pouty girl with pigtails, fashionable glasses, and actually was pretty good looking.
Who's betting the actress is over 18?
If harry potters world is all about being pagan etc etc etc and have all the christian fanatics panties in a twist, why are there christmas trees everywhere, every book talks about christmas morning and getting presents, feasts revolving around it etc.
Very excellent point. So what you are saying is rather than "backing up everything" just turn every workstation's hard drive on the network into one huge raid and mirrored (many times over) array?
I wonder if this is what microsoft has in mind with its "distributed filesystem" deal in one of its upcomming operating systems?
Its definately an interesting thought for the future, esp considering the gigabit networks starting to become even more cost efficient.
Yep, exactly what I thought. with all this crap with the SSSCA and that dork hollings, you would think that the entertainment industries would get a clue and start looking at it like valve is. Sure, there are some pretty sizeable differences and different hurdles, but its still possible, esp once/if they ever start getting serious about making broadband a widespread service.
could spell sklyarov correctly... dmitry must be getting pissed by now....

but to still do so, is not a good idea. why? because when they release this b#llsh&t code open source, everyone will immediately pick up on what they did. This will only make them a HUGE amount of enemies, be VERY bad PR, and will probably get them sued regardless, and have everyone gunning for them.
sure, they could probably do it. but can they afford to?
well, I wouldnt worry as much about an OSS project getting caught by this compared to microsoft, as long as the companies are not liable if a patch has been released before some customer actually gets cracked.
my reasoning? because most Open source projects patch something immediately when they find out there is a hole.
microsoft on the other hand, has been known to wait months and months to patch known holes....
what makes you wanna bet that THAT would change if M$ could be sued??? damn skippy it would.
no joke man.... just imagine the sweet pings people must be getting.... you know the kids (both young and old) around there are eating it up.
*incredibly jealous*
4.5 sysinstall is still the same it seems to me. I just threw it on a dual box with an onboard intel nic, and a 3com gigabit fiber card, and the networking interfaces configuration just didnt want to work (as i wanted them to). I ended up having to edit the rc.conf myself to get networking to work correctly.
dealing with that is the only problem ive ever had with it, (had same problem in 4.4 also)
has it already been made? or is it just being debated whether it SHOULD be made?
btw, mandrake already has a snazzy kernel compiler in what i think is its standard install. Havent tried it, but it looked a lot more friendly than the standard graphical compile tool in each kernel release.
a lot of this reminds me of the reason people go to the kentucky derby.... they dont go to watch horses run. they go to party and have fun. make a couple bets, and go get wasted in the in field. then you go get wasted again at the parties afterwards while also trying to get laid.
huge lan parties are just for geeks trying to do teh same thing. unfortunately they are all sausage fests so that pretty much kills their chances so they play a lot of video games.

the Nvidia deal is slowly but surely changing for teh better. you can already get gl drivers for freebsd, but I am not sure as to their stability.
not sure about vmware tho

interesting question. I wonder if they would make a dvd size iso... probably not, but maybe. I am willing to bet you have to buy it to get the dvd.

he is concerned with heat, not noise.... liquid cooling still dissipates the same amount of heat into the air around it...

it didnt come close to hitting 80,000 and all the servers kept crashing because of the load....
not sure if it was the servers, or routers that were teh cause though. having them run on windows probably didnt help though....
