I don't care about the outcome in this one. I only hope that it hurts badly for one side or the other. One thing seems to becoming obvious -- Germany is the new East Texas.
The outcome will be that the consumers will get the shaft.
Notice how with all the 'advancements' we have had over the years we really are not that much better off, due to sloppy programming and crappy hardware.
Really, the 'direct public download' bushiness model is dying. They are far too open for attack by the latest anti-whatever craze.
The future is distributed storage with encrypted storage and transfers. Not sure how companies like mega and rapid will make a buck off it without opening themselves back up to the same risks, but that is the direction we are heading.
My reasoning is that the majority of the population doesn't understand/care/know about stuff like this. Just because WE ( 10% perhaps ) do, that isn't enough to do anything about it other than wave our flag as our rights and freedoms get flushed down the drain.
By the time the general pubic get to the point of wanting to take action, it will be too late.
That is easy. If the document was for internal use only and you were not authorized by its 'owner'
Or if it was classified and you didn't have clearance.
Or if its 'illegal' material, such as child p0rn. ( true that is pictures, but you get the idea ), or soon various technical books like DIY explosives.
Not sure how this works legally, but if the document was illegal for you to consume, can you legally post a review of its contents or even acknowledge you saw them?
You cant retain such documents if they are deemed 'illegal', so in theory you must forget anything you read in them.
Much like if you bought a counterfeit book, it would have to be destroyed.
Actually it is a valid solution. Since most of the time the iPad will be used as as a tablet, the need for the keyboard will be limited. I also didn't suggest to carry the keyboard around.
Leave the keyboard at the 'office'..
Now it would be nice if you could use a mouse at the office too..
Once the surveillance net is fully enabled, then other parts of the story will start falling into place. ( the perpetual war concept has already been enacted, as the 'war on terror' )
With a minuscule investment of resources, they were able to completely destroy the "free world's" way of life. They could not have ever done it via direct hostilities, but instead used the back door and got us to do it to ourselves. ( with our power hungry governments help.. )
Social engineering at its best. ( or worst i guess..)
They can go to hell. Where was this done? Did they use ANY public funds? If so, i already own it, so give me the damned article.
That already exists, its called civil court after the fact. Remember what happened to OJ?
Just means you will get throttled faster.
Until cell providers get a clue, we should not be developing new tech for their networks and instead stop sending them our money.
"easy" is an abstract concept that can only lead to complete TPM.

Since no 'user controlled hardware' is 100% safe you propose TPM *everywhere* so users can no longer control anything. ( or have no computers at all )
No thanks.
The more you press on shady people the more they will work around the restrictions.
Its an endless cat-mouse game. And we are the losers.
Public Records.
Don't want your work records released then work in the private sector instead. ( even teachers can do this )

No thanks, id rather the government not know everything i have bought and sold.
Loss of cash is another loss of personal freedom.
Unless its convenient for the Feds to turn a blind eye, like with gun rights.
How about we all just stick with official standards and co-habitate?
Sure, I will be there when the time comes, but there is no sense being a martyr at this point as the act will just go unnoticed.
Pick winnable battles, in their proper time and place.
No civil war in our life time.

.... earthling .... since this isn't new, nor the end of it. Eventually all of us will be under this sort draconian rule.
Freedom. It was fun while it lasted.
By logical supposition my suggestion is correct.
Also, by definition, my signature is correct. Even if it offends you, which is not my problem, nor Webster's..

Not quite, but any day now.

Then buy a bluetooth keyboard for when you have to do hardcore typing.
Problem solved.

*sigh*
I don't believe it was "made" for it, but it sure as hell is being milked for all its worth by the people in power.
Hey, they are forcing me to waste in/toner for something that i didn't approve of.
Sounds like a class action to me.
