Is returning to an internet drain to you, like the good old days. It's one sure way to kill off the golden goose.

Still reminds me of drug dealers. Make it almost free until you get used to it, then stick it to you. You cant convince me for a second that the telcos didn't have this planned a decade or 2 ago, once society and commerce was nearly reliant on data.

And regardless of the scam, how can one honestly charge when you cant control what is coming in? Its like charging for a art magazine differently each month depending on who took the pictures that time, and not even telling you until after you have been billed. Internet should be considered a public utility at this point due to its importance to the very infrastructure of the country. The price fixed and regulated and service monitored. ( and i hate government intervention )

Right. Why fix what isn't broken in a panic. Sure, make it a long term goal to move away from it, as realistically someday it wont be supportable as the pool of people slowly shrink, but don't flip out and convert it into today's latest and greatest language.

COBOL is stable, and has been proven by the test of time. For projects like this you want its successor to do the same.

I still remember in school how 'pascal is the next thing and its all you ever need to learn..'. ya, that worked out real well and it wasn't exactly a new language either. Glad i refused to limit myself with it and learned other things too.

  11. Do they really care? on Is Mark Zuckerberg the Next Steve Case? · · Score: 1

Seriously, do they care if they become the 'next to fade out'? They made their billions, and if their company fades away they can just do something else that is fun to them. No real skin off their nose, so to speak.

  12. Due to model options on Android Passes iPhone In US Market Share · · Score: 1

Its due to the fact you have tons of models from many carriers to choose from. With the iPhone, you basically have 1 choice for both.

Sort of what happened to VHS and Betamax... the better product lost out due to Sony's lack of willingness to license out and keep control over it ( until it was too late ).

While i do agree capacitive screens are much nicer, it doesn't mean old-tech resistive screens are junk. Just picked up a sub 200 dollar 7" device last week, a 15 dollar 8gb SD, and it seems to be just fine.

But i do agree, there is a lot of garbage out there so you do have to do your homework first.
