True, in space ( or getting there ) wings don't do much but hurt, but when you want to come home they help you land more efficiently/safely, and saves you from having to crash land in the water all the time, where recovery costs aren't negligible..
When i was a kid we were kept in a fenced 'cage' too, of course it was the back perimeter of the school property. One school we didn't have *any* trees, only play fields.
If this fenced in area is large enough i don't see a huge issue, but if its too small, then its a true cage and parents should be appalled.
Anyone can squeeze a microphone, an AD/DA converter, a 15 channel DSP driven parametric equalizer and amp into a box the size of a toaster oven. But not many can stick it in your ear, and have it fit properly.
Ummm i saw this nearly 20 years ago, where a line worker physically 'walked' the new robot thru its paces to perform the task. After a single training lesson, the robot was on its own. ( and the program was copied to the rest of the robots on the same line. )
Worked out better then having some process engineer that lived in a box ( ok ok, nice clean cubicle up in the admin building ) try to program the steps in a vacuum then spend weeks refining it.
I pay for the lowest basic analog cable. I watch at most 3 channels, perhaps 5 hours a week. But id rather not go to a pay per view, or id not watch anything:)
Besides annoying, a lot of these things slow your browser ( or entire computer ) down and is just uncalled for. Its bad enough to have the ad, but if i have to suffer because of it? F-off!
While I'm just one person and I wont make or break a company, i still make a point of NOT buying products from companies that use offensive ads in my face like this.
To another station blasting ads at you.. Ever notice how they are all timed to go off about the same so you don't have much choice, other then to walk away and do something constructive.

Finally, that captured alien craft is being used.

We will enter a ghetto like state where everyone lives on the street and the people who own the robots live well
There, answered your question for you.

So the bottom line is there is more private data then public data floating around.
Go figure. *snooze*
Perhaps not invented, but if they opened the market, you can thank Apple for that.
I want one too, but ill kick in an additional 25 for wifi or bluetooth for transferring stuff without a cable.
( tho i do have a kindle.. but anther cheap device that you don't have to worry about the cost if you break it would be nice )
Not unless they have color e-ink. There is still something to be said about the readability of e-ink compared to LCD.
But, it might bring the price down on kindles..
Just like that star trek thing... Or the internet...
Its not just PHP, the entire OSS world is like this..
Everyone wants their own wheel as no one likes painting a wheel that belongs to someone else.
But that is the key, YOU getting the choice, not Apple.
A lot of us never thought the 'internet' would even be heard of outside the hardcore geek community.
Lesson learned: never say never.
That would be the logical conclusion to the path he suggested. 100% pay per view.

And no one even noticed.
Especially if you are penalized by your ISP if you use it..
Two main things:
1 - Laziness
2 - Unreasonable deadlines

I hope you got a good taste of what it would be like if you piss off all your customers.
Or its what newegg was told, and they are just passing it along, without questioning the sanity of the excuse...
Lets hope other magazines follow suit with their 'archives'. Now i can finally get rid of my 10 boxes of old PS paper copies.
The chip may not be real in a demo, but the fan would be at the least...
