    Its not just the IP attorneys, 90% of our current problems are caused by them and the 'environment' they have bred over generations in this country.

    And i wont comment on the Lincoln reference, as yes i realize he was an attorney ( as is most people in high levels of government )

    So lets assume you do have your child pinpointed, what would be the best way to identify exactly where the kid is? Preferably via webpage so you could use a phone with browser...

    Im thinking some sort of web-service where you could just plug in xy coordinates?

    No, they not the least bit stupid and are totally "in touch". They just know they are a borderline monopoly so they really don't care what their customers want.

    Wince the ISP's are tied ( or are actually one in the same... ) to the content producers, it is only a matter of time before we end up in a situation where you are punished for using competitors.

    Oh, and punished as a customer in general, like comcast does now.

    And why would anyone worth his salt rely on a commercial tool anyway?

    Sure, if you are in the security field, you will now have to run it against your 'sandbox' just in case some low threat kid tries it on your network, but that is as far as it would go as far as i'm concerned.

    Sounds like a good scam to me, release tool knowing full well it will end up on torrent sites for amateur kiddies to use, then sell copies to corporate so you can 'test' your network with to 'be thorough'. Sounds a lot like how they deal with viruses :)

    They haven't killed that off, yet. We will see what happens now that they own Altiris and have pretty much merged it with that division, but so far it wasn't destroyed by the acquisition of norton.

    With ISP's ? I remember when you had to delete AOL, MSN, etc off the desktops. That was really effective, wasn't it.

    Well they do care if you are running windows, but they figure the potential revenue lost in software is worth the sale of the hardware.

    Im not a fan of Java, but even I think this is a bad direction to head. But hey, its oracle, what else would they do?
