Some of us don't like where the bloated, cpu and bandwidth wasting internet is heading. A world where gopher survived and flourished doesn't sound all that bad.
Even if it is a loss leader and sold below cost, its still my device to do as i please with it. If they don't like that idea, they should have leased the device, then its not really mine.
As far as the free network, they could restrict that to allow you to only access amazon ( or anything else they approve of ). It is "their" network after all. ( too bad i cant hack that into my laptop for free access:)
Sorry its not a 100% identical copy. its a SAMPLE. Analog is infinitely variable, digital isn't. Sure, *you* may not be able to tell the difference and its close enough for you, but dont give me that garbage that its identical.
But i do agree with you, lossy compression makes matters worse.
Of course the professionals will continue to print. The reason they make it hard to counterfeit is to stop the casual guy in his basement and making a mess of the money supply.
You can never stop the hardcore well financed criminals.
Tho i'm against DRM in principle this is a good thing, and i hope they get this into enough people hands and piss off thousands of their customers.
If enough 'average people' get angry the insanity might stop.
How about following the standards the rest of the world uses instead?

if i had to choose between digital artifacts and analog distortions, id choose analog distortions anyday.
That said i do understand the convenience of digital and am not a total luddite ( just partial ), but so much is lost in the translation its sad.
The beta sure as hell wont.
Annoy the hell out of me personally. Both audio and video.
Bring back analog, the real thing.
Call Adam Quark.

The law doesn't apply to the people that purchased it.
The only way to stop it is first take out the *aa, then buy our freedom back.
Its all about money.
If you just manage the users properly and NFS mount applications it almost takes care of its self and don't need an extra layer of complexity.
use PXE+XDMCP and the workstations be come irrelevant
They claim its a breach of contract to jailbreak or install non approved apps.
Until the courts decide if that is correct or not, they are more then free to sue.
