That pretty much covers the 'internet too' question the poster posed.

If all ( most ) countries censor it will eventually be turned over to the UN under the guise of WTO compliance and the 'firewall' wont be needed anymore. One world government, here we come.

Freedom: i hope you enjoyed it while we had it.

Id say time to break out Freenet for every day use but the ISPs have effectively neutered that route by introducing bandwidth caps.

And depressing isn't the right word, disgusting is more like it.

Its good that its not free to use, and will spur short term projects that were held back due to licensing.

But is it good long term? Now that its not a money maker, where is the true incentive to keep development happening. Is there enough momentum in the OSS world to keep it alive?

i see it starting to stagnate then eventually get moldy.

I stopped looking for them a while ago when all i would ever see were big bulky adapters that needed their own power.. ( sort of defeated the purpose ).

What the goal would be is to have a pretty powerful PDA that would use these devices either via usb or bluetooth so you can take your 'pc' with you, and if you stop somewhere just associate with the display and power where you are sitting for the day.

Add wifi + remote desktop ability to a server somewhere and you can have extra computing power/storage too.
