    They have no lost their common carrier status and should be treated as such.

    So is there investigation involved in reports or can we just have fun shutting people down for the hell of it? Also, what gets blocked/shut down tomorrow? "Hate" speech? Anti government speech? Pirate bay? Evil p2p sites? How about sourceforge?

    While i'm all for stopping abuse of children, we all know this is not what this is about, unless you are really naive.

    As Mike Godwin said: "Daddy, where were you when they took freedom of the press away from the Internet?" Sounds like we are just about there..

    Morals are relative. Remember, i dont belive in IP rights, so there is no moral issue here for me.

    Legal, thats often a grey area when it comes to bootlegs.

    Even then, i doubt they have much from my taste ( that i dont already have )

    And ive never seen a bootleg at the library.

    While there are great tools and languages out there ( Eric, Eclipse are good examples ) i have yet to see something that can compete with Visual Studio, especially for GUI or 'team' development.

    OSS tools may be improving by leaps and bounds, but i see just as many commercial ones as i have ever seen, if not more.

    For those of us that don't believe in IP rights, we are 'putting our money where you mouth is' and are downloading what we want.

    We always have ( even before the commercial internet ), and always will.

    I don't see it being a hypocrite.

    Be sure to hide your face as you walk out of the building, as you know most every square inch of any major city has a camera trained on it, right?

    The 9/11 TV coverage pretty much showed you are not anonymous in this country in the metro areas. It was amazing what they got from *private* cameras as they retraced that one morons steps. ( ATMs, gas stations, etc )

    If you are effected by this pseudo bullying, you have issues anyway. Its not the so called 'harassment' that is the problem here.

    If someone is online saying something you don't like, try walking away from the PC.. its not that hard, really. If you cant, then you really need to be seeking in-patient professional help.

    I agree XP isn't good for the low end resource, but there are other embedded OS's that we might get stuck with.

    Symbios, WinCE, PalmOS, etc

    ANd i still bet they lock it down so you cant do anything with it, much as with phones.

    *snip* which requires for scientific use that safeguards have to be taken to prevent the identification of individuals. *snip* But it doesn't store it that way, and when the government comes calling ( the real concern here ) they don't have to 'clean' the data.

    There was the HP 200lx, but not sure how IPX would have worked on them, or if there was network card. ( was a novell guy back in the old days )

    But was good for the console port on a router.

    Power, water, petrol, gas - they all cost per quantity because someone upstream pays by quantity. Why do you want the internet to be any different?

      Because it IS different. In those cases something is actually consumed. Barring electricity, nothing is actually consumed when you 'use' bandwidth.

    This is more like getting a license plate to drive a particular car on the street ( excise tax . It really doesn't cost the state anymore if you drive 10000 miles, or 10000 people drive 1 mile, the road is already there and it costs the same for upkeep. Its a flat rate. Just don't let more people on it then is safe. ( ie. lane restrictions. only in this case, you can lease 2 lanes if you need them )
