What are they going to sue for, as the piratebay hasn't committed any crime in their country? Or do they have the same sort of 'no ramifications sue for anything you feel like today' sort of civil laws over there?
I say we setup a fund. Any idiot artist/CEO/etc that attempts nonsense like this gets a contract put out on them and we use the 'fund' to pay for the hit. After 2 or 3 i bet the madness will stop.
I might agree with you in part, except that IP violation isnt theft. Non profit copyright violation is a rather nebulous civil law issue, while theft is an actual crime that deprives the owner of their belongings.
Really, everything should be encrypted and obsfucated in this day and age. I don't care if i'm just downloading the latest kubuntu CD which is legal ( today anyway ), its really not the governments/ISPs business.
As far as throttling, if they want to throttle ALL use and state that in their TOS that they now have speed-limits, fine. But don't pick out one or 2 things to monitor/throttle. because it *might* be used improperly. ( hint: anything can be, so its either all or nothing )
I was thinking more along the lines of people talking on the phone *all* the damed time. Getting in the way, slowing things down, causing accidents. ( just for a couple of examples ). There is a place to make a call, and standing in line while you are paying for your groceries is NOT one of them.
I can avoid getting calls all the time, by turning it off.
Oh, and ya ring-tones are annoying.
Seems i got modded down, again. I guess the truth hurts.
2) A truly free source code license - no viral GPL BS to deal with
You were doing so well until you spouted this aggregious bullshit line. You're obviously very biased against the GPL since it's a very tough stretch by the M$ marketing department to call it viral.
That's just as bad as calling copyright infringement "PIRATING". ARRGH ARRGH MATEY! AHOY THERE ON THE OPEN SEAS.
You idiot.
Well, technically the GPL is viral, * by design *. Not going to get into the debate if its good or bad, just that it really is.
Personally i don't have a problem calling copyright infringement piracy. I do however have a problem calling it theft.
As long as the attorneys smell money, we can expect this to continue on for decades. They really don't care about the underlying attempt to undermine OSS by the funders, its all about getting paid. Once that stops flowing, they are gone.
And if anyone tries to charge, they should be hacked, or their establishment burnt to the ground.

So X has improved over the years? It doesn't seem like it to me, but thats good they have made advances instead of going backwards. I still don't think it has exited 'bloat' as i consider it, but i will check out this KDrive thing this week as i have not heard of it before, and perhaps change my opinion. ( as really X is a good thing and i would never suggest it go away.. )
All this will do is teach the kids IP is a corporate crock to be obliterated when they are in power, and open doors to possibilities about 'free' stuff they never even thought of.
What they should do is try to give value to purchasing a right to use, not just trying to scare kids.
Never, cant be true.
At least they don't get my dollar for any product, their non offensive competitor does..
Sure im only one person, but if enough people do it a difference could be made.
Why? Well, for starters i don't believe in IP rights.
Anytime i am presented with a intrusive ad, i do my best to never do business what that company again. And i often let them know.
To my boycott list.

Most people don't understand non digital privacy, good luck with the digital side of the house.

Well, if you lay down and accept defeat, then its almost the same as being blown away.
Nuclear bomb? Last i heard they left a trace.

All wireless phone service should go.
All it does is breed rudeness.

Or just steal your printers and supplies.
Until the fat lady runs out of money.

That wouldn't be as much fun, nor would it be as strong of a statement of displeasure with their action.
If i had to guess, it was people that agree with me. :)
Ya, that sounds fair.
Don't matter if your intent is good, its still a crime and i hope they get caught and sent to prison for life and have a cell mate called bubba.
And you morons STILL don't believe in them, do you? Everything the government does is one.
Or have a revolution. Or suffer the consequences of inaction..
