    What are they going to sue for, as the piratebay hasn't committed any crime in their country? Or do they have the same sort of 'no ramifications sue for anything you feel like today' sort of civil laws over there?

    I say we setup a fund. Any idiot artist/CEO/etc that attempts nonsense like this gets a contract put out on them and we use the 'fund' to pay for the hit. After 2 or 3 i bet the madness will stop.

    I might agree with you in part, except that IP violation isnt theft. Non profit copyright violation is a rather nebulous civil law issue, while theft is an actual crime that deprives the owner of their belongings.

    Really, everything should be encrypted and obsfucated in this day and age. I don't care if i'm just downloading the latest kubuntu CD which is legal ( today anyway ), its really not the governments/ISPs business.

    As far as throttling, if they want to throttle ALL use and state that in their TOS that they now have speed-limits, fine. But don't pick out one or 2 things to monitor/throttle. because it *might* be used improperly. ( hint: anything can be, so its either all or nothing )

    I was thinking more along the lines of people talking on the phone *all* the damed time. Getting in the way, slowing things down, causing accidents. ( just for a couple of examples ). There is a place to make a call, and standing in line while you are paying for your groceries is NOT one of them.

    I can avoid getting calls all the time, by turning it off.

    Oh, and ya ring-tones are annoying.

    Seems i got modded down, again. I guess the truth hurts.

    Well, technically the GPL is viral, * by design *. Not going to get into the debate if its good or bad, just that it really is.

    Personally i don't have a problem calling copyright infringement piracy. I do however have a problem calling it theft.

    Its not that my PC is too old, i just prefer not to waste resources.

    So X has improved over the years? It doesn't seem like it to me, but thats good they have made advances instead of going backwards. I still don't think it has exited 'bloat' as i consider it, but i will check out this KDrive thing this week as i have not heard of it before, and perhaps change my opinion. ( as really X is a good thing and i would never suggest it go away.. )
