I do believe that any school building project has to be approved by the city, which then promptly posts the building plans for PUBLIC debate before the permit is granted. ( at least they do here )
Not saying EVERYONE is that way of course, but yes you have to always plan for the worst as much as you can or its just a matter of time before you get burnt.
If you lose your job due to what you do on your own time, your company sucks, and its wrong. As a side effect, they should be put out of business.
If someone is committing a "crime" that does NOT effect society then the law is wrong and should be ignored. Anyone that sees it should keep their nose out of the other's business. Having a 'private party' falls under that.
If you cant see the difference between some kids partying at a house, and the other examples I gave, then this discussion is over and you are nothing more then sheep as far as im concerned and you deserve the society you get.
We have something like that here in the summer too.
If you let the power company turn off your AC for a little each day, ( completely, not just change the temp ) they give you a discount. But its totally opt-in so if you are at home or have pets there is no risk of them getting hot when its 100+ outside.
While i agree with you that the government has gone way out of their way to irrationally scare us and yank our rights at every turn, we also cant stand around and do nothing in todays world.
There has to be a healthy balance of prevention there somewhere that doesn't remove all the things we are trying to protect in the first place.
That is the end goal, where you cant do *anything* without it being tracked in some government database.
Even if what you are doing today is legal, it may not be tomorrow, and they will want records of it to hold against you. At the very least it shows prior intent.
I don't feel that I'm wrong in the least, and I have to give the same answer, if you equate a *party* to some malicious act ( even graffiti ) you have issues.
I don't care if they are underage, this was a harmless private party, and the school should have kept their noses out of it. Did anyone get hurt? No. Did it effect their education? Most likely not. So its really none of their business. Im not say its legal what they did and should be ignored, but It is the business of their parents ( and the police ), not the SCHOOL, unless it was a official school event of some sort ( which is not the impression i got from the summary )
Now, to clarify my position about the school being a 'responsible citizen' , if they were out 'spray painting a building' or 'running over mailboxes' or other similar acts of malice however minor, then we are in agreement.
Do you want your boss to start dictating what you do after hours on your own time ( when you are *not* representing the company of course ) ? There is a similarity there.

Tell that to the people a generation ago that was doing it without any modern technology as it WAS modern tech at the time. They got by just fine.
Things like this would be the stepping stones to get back on track because of their lack of reliance on todays 21st century tech.
Thats what they said about your SSN in the beginning, and you see how that didn't creep.
But its not as convenient, which is how the world works today.

Today.
Tomorrow children. In a generation or 2, everyone will have them.
While that is true, and does exist on the books, is it considered "conspiracy to commit" when its a *civil* act involved and not criminal?
Not saying EVERYONE is that way of course, but yes you have to always plan for the worst as much as you can or its just a matter of time before you get burnt.
It only takes one mistake to ruin your day.
Is there a law that requires it? If not, quit whining. Shouldn't believe anything you read anyway.
So how are they going to track me?
Also, prove it wasn't stolen off my pc..
if you didnt expect that in this day and age, then you are a fool.

1 - i never said the people causing the mischief was faultless.
2 - its an electronic convention, you should *expect* a prank like that. If you don't take reasonable precautions, then yes you are also at fault.
Comparing a prank like that to a mass murder is ludicrous.
The tech colleges of today market heavily to kids promising them the world to get them to come and take classes.
Between them flooding the market like that and the general 'what is in it for me' attitude these days this is bound to happen.
WTF? all this trouble because they didn't have enough insight to put tape over the IR windows on some tvs?

Remember you said that in 20 years when you are showing your ID to buy a pizza..
Tomorrow, buying food.
Whatever.
Not me. But i agree most of the sheep in the population will be.
im taking data backups. Doing *system* backups is a waste of energy.

Optical drives are still valid for backups.
I bet Tesla does not get any credit for doing it decades ago.
