And if you pay for bandwidth, your bandwidth is exceeded and then you cant present yourself to your customers until you pay more, or wait until next month when the counters are reset.
Some people pay their entire bill based on traffic.
"Do you really think they are doing door to door knocks to find similar material on everyone's computer?"
In a country that has vans that drive around looking for people watching broadcast tv with out a license.. Well, yes i do suspect they would go door to door with sales records in hand, of similar books.
And it happens here in the US as well. Remember the kid that tried to check out a 'black listed' book for a report and got a visit from the HSD? I dont put anything past todays governments.
Many of us bought these things long before anyone dreamed it would come to this and that we would have to hide our innocent purchases just to protect our rights.. ( im talking 25 + years here, i did mention 'long ago' in my original post )
And the paranoids around here will remind you that there are cameras that record every sales transaction in most any store, and with modern digital facial recognition they can still nail you.
The difference in support from XP to 2000 is minimal. It was a management decision not to support 2000 ( actually, the plan wasnt to back port to XP either and force everyone to vista/2003, but that plan fell thru due to a tad bit of common sense ) in order to kill the product off. It was not a techincal decision.
2000 is a viable, stable useable product, and the fact people dont 'have' to upgrade cuts into their bottom line. This was seen as a way to get those users to upgrade.
Its not like i was complaining they arent supporting it on 98 or something.
And buying a bunch of the books will get you put on the watched list. Remember they now track purchases in the US, and i damned well guarantee they include book titles.
Some of us bought the book ( and others like it ) many years ago, when it was still legal to read, and information was not restricted. Now we may pay for exercising our rights back then since the rules have changed since then.
While the concept of what mono offered was a great idea, the risks are far greater. just choose something like python instead. Its also cross compatible and i dont think the rug can be pulled out from underneath you at the last minute.
You mean the press might not be giving us the honest scoop? I cant believe it.
And somewhat related: Who cares what someones sexual preference is? If you need to know, perhaps you need to get a life. Judge a person on his job performance, not what he/she does on their own time, which is really none of your business anyway.
Soylent ( any of the varites ) didnt taste like bacon, Its far too (over)processed. It tastes more like white bread, or plain crackers. Perhaps a bit like plain tofu even.
Unless it makes their big business friends more money and keeps them in office. ( though really, that can be said for EITHER party.. its all the same. )
Is that most HAVE to upgrade, since they bought into the MOLP treadmill.
That and when you cant buy a PC with drivers for anything older then Vista you dont have many choices. its harder to support 2 flavors of an OS then just bite the bullet and upgrade the rest of them too.
not that im looking forward to it, but its going to come, regardless of how much we complain or wish it wouldnt. We said the same about XP.. it came..
Of course they have the right, but i think that beacuse of the reason they used, they also get into issues with the definition of 'common carrier' with the FCC.
Just beacuse you can, doesnt mean there arent consequences.
I know that the current startup sounds make me want to puke, and im sure that i am not alone.
Dont want your customers throwing up everytime they use your product.
That would be steve that would have to be jailed, not bill. Remember bill stepped down from the CEO position.
And that is part of why you have a corporation, to sheild you from things like that. THe corp gets fined, you dont have to goto jail .
And if you pay for bandwidth, your bandwidth is exceeded and then you cant present yourself to your customers until you pay more, or wait until next month when the counters are reset.
Some people pay their entire bill based on traffic.
Now, tell me where the crime is?

They story implies she was linked just beacuse she shared a common interest in documents.
And since when is carrying a book and night-vision goggles illegal? Again, no concrete reasons were implied in teh story except for the 'evil' books.
Perhaps there is more meat to this and there is a real link between them and a real reason to be arrested, but the story i saw has nothing.

Once knowledge becomes a crime, freedom is gone.
The difference is here in america the goal is not to just 'survive' its to obliterate the competition.
After you sell your soul to work for us, we require a drop of blood each morning to be able to access the building and then again to access your pc.
its effective, but we have noticed a rise in healthcare costs.
Video performance and such is not the same between workstation and GSX/VMServer.. There are still reasons for 'workstation'.
Besides, isnt all software free anyway ?
its not just an 'extension', its a vehicle to kill off pre XP machines.
I tend to agree totally.

If they havent seen it by now.. then there is a problem anyway
All 'evil empire' stuff aside, why should they even want to be nice to OSS? They are out to make money and any competition stands in the way.
You mean the press might not be giving us the honest scoop? I cant believe it.

Nah, i dobut the offer will even be extended to them.
I wonder when Microsoft will go after BSD... Its bound to happen eventually.

Regardless of who gets into office, they all get corrupted and continue the 'machine' anyway, so what does it matter?
On how many times i give the cameras the bird?
Phfft. If im not doing anything wrong, its none of anyones business where i go, or what i do.
Of why they cant be trusted, and with luck THIS will get to the common man and be noticed.
