  1. Suspect on Rootkit-like Feature Found in Norton Systemworks · · Score: -1, Flamebait

Just wait until its found they are actually funding a large part of the new viruii that keeps comeing out, so you continue to need their products.

Much as microsoft *wants* bugs, so they can pretty much guarantee you will have to upgrade eventually. ( if they dont get you on the hardware/sofwtare treadmill first, where every upgrade in either requires both to be purcahsed. A lot of those silly gamers are already caught in that cycle )

  2. Stupid Consumers on 35mm - One Step Closer to the End · · Score: 1

Digital will *never* surpass quality of real film. ( or any other analog format )

It may be more popular today, but thats due to marketing ( just wait until DRM kicks in on your own images.. and format changes render your pictres inaccessable ), and peoples stupidity that they cant tell the difference.

    "duh.. its close enough"

Its not about WHO sold the CPU, its about the architecture behind it.

The ix86 was flawed from the beginning. Its still flawed.

But you misunderstand, i dont have to justify my opinion. My opinion is all that counts.

Aside from that, if you want to compare a old G4 to a new chip Intel, lets also compare a G5 to a 486 just to make it 'fair'( and just as worthless of a comparison ).

    Loser.

Fortunate for me you dont have mod points? Well, fortunate for you that you hide behind a monitor.

Your country cassette from a truck stop that you have stored under the seat of your pickup truck wont play? And this suprises you?

We arent talking about crappy consumer music tape here, the quality and life of real backuptapes are a bit better.

You also have to store your media properly. That is an important part of the formula for long term data retention.

And yes, i may not have the entire story here, seems your blog site is dead.

The apple version is intel.. ( yuk ) So there is your reason to buy one of these things.

Yes i expect to be modded down, yet again, for expressing my dislike for this change from PPC to ix86. But hey, its how i feel. And im NOT alone.

  13. This is true on Burned CDs Last 5 years Max -- Use Tape? · · Score: 1

Ive found this out myself, having been one of the first to start using CDrs for archives..Got burnt bad on this. Some important documents were totally lost. The disks were stored in a good environment and hadn't been touched since the day they were burnt/verified.

Recordable DVDs are worse. However tapes from 20 years ago are still readable ( IF you can find the hardware to do it on )

I have found too that if you can find an older CDROM drive ( like a 4speed ) they tend to work better in recovering the data on the old 'questionable' disks.
