Most users are not competent. Once you get out in the real world you will discover that.
Also if a company cant trust me to hold all the keys, i dont want to work for them in the first place.
And just for the record, the place i work at currently, i do hold all the keys. I'm entrusted with our network/data safety. ( as i have in the past with previous jobs ) I also take that responsibility seriously.
Part of the reliablity and power comes from much better PPC. Now that Apple will be switching, their products wont be much better then any other 'white box'.
This is coming from an Apple fan since the first ][ hit the streets. Who still has most every model apple in the garage, and all work just fine, even after all these years. Even a newt..
Wish i could say that is the case here in the US, where they are putting up skyscrapers at a frightening pace. ( along with the rapid destruction of farmland for single family homes..)
If you are only renting/buying content use, then the disk should be almost zero cost to replace when one is damaged. In this case 'consumers' should be getting disks 'at cost' for replacement. ( this includes gamefly since they 'bought' it )
If you are buying *both* content use and the actual media then it sort of upsets the entire concept of fair-use backups that the media industries are fighting against.
If you use PeopleSoft, it also uses popups in a 'required' way.
Im sure lots of other applications do as well. And yes, once you block them it becomes habit not to notice and wonder why you cant get something accomplished.
I dont agree that porn qualifies under the right of free speech. Therefore its not a right. its a privilege. And if the Chinese government wants to deny that privilege, i see no issue.
Aside from that, according to the way the constitution was written, the US supreme court DOES have the jurisdiction to decide what are protected rights are what are not, in this country at least.
No, its no more windows for me. Well, not that im runing windows anymore, but you get my point. Why does the default answer to all this DRM 'just roll over and accept it'?
And if the day comes i cant watch what i bought on what i want too, *that* is the day of 'no more dvd movies'. Not that my 'media budget' will bankrupt anyone, but i refuse to participate.

I do believe they have abondoned that project, and moved to OSX86, which would be much easier to code for.
Too bad that leaves us PPC users out in the cold.
Go hire someone you can trust.
And how many times has this been tried and yet when its most important you get the call 'can you fix this file for me'? Most every time.
Nope, no encryption allowed on my network, unless i hold the key.
If any data is missing, you will be accused regardless. You are the computer guy remember, its ALWAYS your fault.
'IT' needs access to do its job. We need *total* access to all systems and data or we cant be effective and might as well not goto work.
Anyone that stands in the way of this should be fired.
If you cant trust your IT people with this access, then they should be fired.
As far as the owner having total access, well its his f-ing place. HIS butt is on the line.. He gets what he wants, always. Deal with it.
Patching a few hundred servers is not how i wanted to spend my evening.
Will suck.

"Right to use" would be more accurate.
Then dont run the parts you dont like... Pretty simple.

As the cities become more and more crowded, dont be suprised if long term apartments start looking like this.
So what are we buying/renting here? The content or the media?
Sounds like a double standard here.. where the consumer gets screwed no matter what.
They are close cousins. In the big picture, no, there is no difference.

Mr Jobs.. you are an idiot.
No, only what *i* agree with are rights.

That issue was decided a long time ago by the US supreme court. The porn lost.
if you truely belive this, you are sick and should be taken off the streets.
Plus its their right to do so. Porn isnt a 'human right'.

Remember that statement once you grow up, move out of your mothers basement and have kids yourself.
Remember that statement once you grow up and have kids yourself.
Sounds like you dont have kids yourself.
Kids WILL do things behind your back that are bad for them. Even when they are taught its wrong. Its part of being a kid.
Having a law that protects a *child* from *adult* material isnt a bad thing.
its a backdoor way to get more DRM integrated into our lives.. This time we "agree" with it..
