  4. It wasn't enabled by default on the 120N i just picked up. ( i checked before i plugged it into the modem )

    Since i'm stuck with OEM firmware on it, i figured it was safer to leave it off anyway.

  5. Most people wont even notice. This is consumer grade stuff we are talking about. For the "plug it in and it just works" crowd.

    If a few techies get burnt, no great loss for them. Its nice to think that you matter in the world, but really you don't.

    Yes i have heard that proposed many times, the only problem i see is most people cant estimate their taxes ( to be honest the feds make it hard to do it ) and will end up severely in the hole at the end of the year.

    Perhaps some sort of 'you will owe' on each check so people have a chance to plan ahead, and not get caught by a system designed to screw them. But they still have to write that check all at once.

    That in my mind is money I never had, so I don't think about it, if I get some back at tax time, it is just a bonus to me.

    And that sort of programmed thinking is why they can get away with it.

    Right, mission was accomplished and the *AA is happy and didn't have to pay a dime to do it.

    However, it was short sighted as its only a temporary blip and it will cause the next batch of providers to be harder to catch, AND we burnt some bridges in the process.
