Oddly enough, in the 8-bit world i was still in the Atari camp, but all my friends were in commodores ( but i found that was a highly regional thing.. ).
This guy is working towards the end goal, and deserves credit.
Sure, its all 'off the shelf' sensors, but that is the entire point, that technology has advanced to the point he can do it without inventing new sensors.
True its 'just a meter', but you have to start with something or you never get to the end. Also, try doing this in a hand held device 20 years ago... Advancements are being made, and this is just one step along the way.
Nah, looks like the same old interface concept, just with a bit of new aged 'shine' attached. I don't see a fundamental revolution here, just evolution to give it more eyecandy.
Its getting the food to the people that need it. A small part of that is logistics, but the biggest part is the various governments ( mostly local ) that get in the way.
Lots and lots of food goes to waste every year that never made it to the person that was hungry.
Its clearly an Atari thread that was discussed in court. If the attorneys were incorrect, they jeopardized their case out of ignorance, if it was the guy who wrote the story, he should be taken out back and shot.
I don't care if its been decades since both camps lost the fight with IBM/Microsoft, but they deserve to be represented properly.
It will also kill off p2p and the 'piracy issue' as if it costs more to download that movie then buy it or stream it on demand, who will get it off p2p?
I have always said its the only way to stop p2p, and that it will happen. Too bad it looks like i was right.
I told people this would happen the very day they announced 'caps'.
Goal is to reduce the Internet down to just email, and steer you into getting all your 'content' from them, or fear getting hit with huge bills next month for overage.
Anyone here remember the bad old days of GEnie and Compuserve? Same story there... From what i remember, at least with AOL, if you were out of time that month, yo u just got disconnected, not billed at several times the normal cost.
I always find it amazing that electronic gadgets are a "distraction" yet non-electronic ones are not. You don't see legislation to outlaw paper maps, coffee cups, makeup, food, etc from vehicles.
Technically they have as 'distracted driving' has been illegal for a long time. So the use of anything that distracts you is prohibited.
But you can always refuse, depending on your job ( with some jobs that require high enough clearances, you don't get the privilege of privacy if you want the job ).
Of course if you refuse they can later find another reason to make you go away..
Depends on your goal. For those that have a goal of total control of their population, its a good thing. AND they have support of parents, so the children will grow up thinking this is normal.
Every thing the feds do can be used nefariously, and in time regardless of its original intentions, will be.
its the nature of a federal government who ignores its rules. ( ie, the Constitution here in the US ), or has none in the first place ( like in several other countries )
These things never really go away after they are buried.
All these years later, that's funny.. But back then them be 'fightin words'. :)
We had better sound too.. and a better OS.

You must have been a commodore guy back then. If you had been an Atari guy you would know it was relevant. :)

its bad enough these words are even on the list in the first place.
In school, regardless of content the tests themselves often gave them to me.

"Computer Misuse Act ", while misusing the word "Hacker".
That should be a crime in itself. :)
Cool, that leaves me out, unless libreoffice is vulnerable too.
Just don't buy, or pirate, shit that has it, stick to the many, many other titles and there you go.
I sort of disagree. I say pirate it like crazy, and be sure they know that they are losing sales because of it.

My clocks have numbers, not hands.
Is what most professional race drivers have done for decades, for several reasons.
How many of s stick our elbow out the window and do a 9ish position 1/2 the time?
Penalizing the bulk of the population that has no problem using GPS successfully for the misdeeds of the few is just bad lawmaking.
Penalizing the honest/competent/responsible/etc is the goal of most laws.

Or people will just move back to using portable devices instead of ones that are part of the car.

Mustache and goatee removal ( or adding ) wont fool modern facial recognition software.
It might fool software from 10 years ago, but things have advanced, quite a bit.
