    But you also had to put the cash upfront to buy your phone. Those who take the 'plan' don't have to, and can still get a nice phone ( sort of like a lease to buy on a car, of course it costs you more than an outright purchase ).

    If they wont brick them ( which i can see as being a problem so i agree with them on that ), they can turn off the service for that ID and not allow it to be turned back on ever again unless you prove you are the original account holder. ( if its found )

    ya, but what would you expect these days?

    To be fair, not sure what use it would be if it was *really* AmigaOS, there would be nothing current to run on it, and be damned expensive not ruining on a commodity architecture.

    Unfortunately for people who loved the Ataris and Amigas, the time for 'special' has long since passed. ( and we lost.. )

    This is why the end game will be to move to a "distributed darknet", and an easy way for average people to get there. Nothing to shut down then, but the entire network.

    Of course bandwidth caps would be an option then.. but that is about the only way to get to it short of laws that ban darknets totally.

    Your privacy has always been at risk. They don't have to operate under the same rules as the government. The EULA would allow them to monitor data..

    Encryption is the key here, dont trust them.

    So the choices are either go slower or go home basically.. I will chose go slow.

    For those of us that still remember 300baud dial-up, people today really don't know hat 'going slow' is.

    But if *everyone* encrypts, i predict that they will just lower the bandwidth caps for 'non blessed data' ( so you can still stream THEIR content ) to make it impractical to share, especially in a torrent fashion where you share to large groups of people, not just your close friends. ( and it will totally destroy things like FreeNet )
