halo was originally coded for the Mac, therefore would have looked sweeet. It would have used open standard everything, the pc port would have been trivial, every one would have been happy.

instead its brilliance was sacrificed in order to be a trojan for the X-box platform. after which 2 of the lamest ports i've seen left Halo a smoking pile of shit on the platform it was oringinally intended for.

Video games are not just about making huge profits. It could be considered an artform. Interestingly not many people draw a parallel between a musician selling out an a company/director selling out.

If one believes that Windows is the future of operating systems & Microsoft is out to improve the IT industry and not just make a shit load of cash from it, and they profess that sentiment in these forums, they will (quite rightly) have their post flamed into oblivion.

why is it any different when someone indirectly advocates a different indefencable/primative perspective. I submit it is societies responsability to advance our conscouise state, not cling to literal interpretations of ancient texts professing supernatural occurances.

that said I would never hunt these people down, i can co-exist quite happily. Just hope that these beliefs die with them and don't spread to other unsuspecting ignoramuses.

It's been possibly the most satisfying new technology experience i've had in a while. I can't fault Apple's bluetooth implementation. It has worked flawlessly in proximity detection, file transfer & sync'ing. Looking forward to 10.3! There is little doubt now... each release puts OS X users further ahead of their poor sad Windows buddies.

I have never understood why Mac developers and users tolerate Apple screwing them over every couple of years. Say what you will about Microsoft, but they do spent enormous effort trying to avoid this problem on each release, and the effort shows in their market share. And of course open source doesn't require you to wait a few months to recompile... And when I said #2, I wasn't talking about their position in the market.
You can compile and run stacks of open source projects in OSX... whenever you like.

I seem remember a US court suggesting Microsoft's current market share is a result of an illegal monopoly.

Oh wait. maybe you're right, i sould use windows cause it's bug free and never breaks support with 3rd party developers...

The machine you are referring to is the cheapest that Apple makes, and isn't designed to be upgradable. That suits some people. If that's not you, don't be such a thight arse.

"these other forms of energy" are viable right now. Industry has investment in their own technologies and whether it's good for our planet or not, they will protect those investments.

Government intervention is definitely necessary to force industry to abandon polluting technologies. Is there anyone who could actually agree with Bush in regards to Kyoto... from the article "6 tonnes of fossil fuels per american citizen." Whole nations will be wiped out because America refuses to take a (perceived) economic hit

If only one or two companies own the pipes out of the contry they can behave baddly. As the article says, this all stems from a "broadband enquirey". It was highly critical of bigger players protecting their older investments by slowing rollout of broadband technologies.
This is a positive development because decentralised infrastructure will, amongst other things prevent larger organisations from monopolising bandwidth.
