That's quite a lot of rubbish stuffed into one short post. If he won't get a 'normal' trail, what type of trial do expect Assange to get? And are you ok with him being treated differently just because he embarrassed the US government?
Which of the laws of the USA he has violated? You would be the first person anywhere to be able answer that.
You should know that Wikileaks releases have irrefutably shown vast amounts of corruption and illegal action by many governments. One of the most prominent was the US military accidentally killing a journalist. More concerning than the accident, is the fact that the US military/gov tried to hide it.
The first statement i agree with. Unfortunately it isn't anywhere near representing what they are actually disputing. The second statement is pure speculation and fairly obviously wrong. Do really think if Apple hadn't entered the phone market Samsung would have released something that changed the industry like the iPhone?
Australians are such a contradiction, relaxed and uptight at same time. It's a weird attitude we seem to inherited have inherited from the Brits. This insanity serves as an example of the unbearably slow pace of reform in this country, in a social environment that is changing quicker than most people realize.
It's pretty obvious that Windows is now the dominant small business server of choice... also not free and doesn't work better than the free alternative.
People bitching about AD integration need to consider that AD is a proprietary protected setup.
While I read your comment nodding my head, I disagree there is nothing developers can do about it. Simply giving up and letting M$ own your development tools & make your lives "easier" will ultimately lead to a monoculture graphics development. IE, developers will be left with even less choice when DirectX finally crushes the life out of OpenGL. M$ doesn't need to invest money after this happens. It has guaranteed revenue from the developer tools themselves, then from licences & Windows itself, because DirectX requires Windows to run.
Then what happens? As has happened so many times before, M$ locks up a market segment and walks away, looking for another market to consume. 2 things seems likely in this scenario. M$ suddenly increases licencing costs to access new versions of DirectX. Giving massive financial advantage to its own game developers. Inovation stops. M$ no longer has any incentive to do anything with DirectX.
Is MS office really the very best package our collective IT industry can come up with? why has no other office appeared to challenge it on features and speed?
M$ have a plan. They are constantly working to put the industry into a corner (again).
Developing for OpenGL as a priority will change this situation.
Wha? The tests are the empirical proof. ie It's the most favored solution until someone could come up with another test that the theory could NOT explain.
Also as others have pointed out, the church considered these matters to be theological... a tool used frequently in the ongoing shameful efforts to perpetuate the whole scam.
I'm sorry, but that is crap. I administer many, many OSX workstations. I wouldn't advise anyone to install any 3rd party security software on an up-to-date OS X client install.
Sure the salesman was speaking dross when he said there are "no security holes is OSX". I'm not ignorant of the few exploits available for OSX, I just don't consider them a credible threat. I do take a few very simple steps to minimise OSX services exposure, that's just me.
OSX is for professional computer users... Anyone serious about their computing, content production or coding etc, will use OSX. What is that alternative? Windows? you cannot be serious. So for gaming i bought a cheap, fast PC with a sweet video card. I know all you college students might not be able to do this, but i'm not a fucking college student.
I'm not going to be bent over and pay $1000 for a PS3, so i use windows on my cheap PC to play games exclusively. I rarely even surf the web on it...
For everything else, I use OSX. I'm really quite happy with this setup.
brilliant! For me this will go down as one of the most insightful summations of our society i've read. Only comment i'd make is that the level of apathy can become frustrating in the face of government stupidity.
It's amazing that someone who is obviously a solid nerd, could be so sure about this, but be so wrong...
Open Directory can do PRECISELY what you are saying, I can restrict applications, I can even mandate the size of the icons on the desktop of all users, just flick a switch, when any user logs out *BOOM* (with-out any jiggery-pokery) and using a much sweeter interface to boot.... You really need to check out 10.4 server. while you're at it, have a look at ARD 3.0. Makes managing massive numbers of machines incredibly simple (even fun... omg, yes i said fun)
You can try to play down security issues in your unbelievable Windows nirvana, but i don't buy it.
I am, on Windows I can block non authorized applications from being ran, controlled all centrally from the domain controllers, I haven't seen a way to prevent that under OS X.
Open Directory certainly is nothing compared to Win2k/2k3/XP domain system, all it can really use it authenticate against a domain and use that for services. There is no real central management with that (oh look! I can restrict some logins and preinstall some applications -- not good enough). OS X's workgroup management still doesn't offer even a equivalent to roaming profiles (no Network Home Directories is not good enough, that would bring the network down to a slow crawl since it isn't caching files locally and only synchronizing when it needs to).
You are so completely incorrect about this. You can block non-authorized applications (centrally, based on MAC addres, user ID, group ID, etc etc), and have been able to for years using workgroup manager under OS X server.
Roaming profiles under OSX works brilliantly, and yes it does cache on the local host. It also has mobile account syncing... Where are you pulling this shit from? What type of network do you run?? are you still on coax??? the load caused on any modern network for remote homeDirs is perfectly acceptable. You can also choose to boot disklessly with Netboot and acheive all sorts of usefull administrative tasks. I could go on.
You slag off OpenDirectory, have you actually used it? Its based on open source technologies like Open LDAP and Kerberos. Unlike AD, which is M$ going it alone (again) and not implementing anything Open or standards driven. Remeber the M$ attack on Kerberos?? reveals the companies true colours. I've used both in large scale setups and I can tell you Open Directory is much easier to maintain and implement.
Perhaps, but then again most of the business software doesn't run on other OSes in the first place -- so there is simply no choice anyway. If there was, I would still choose Windows over OS X, not only despite of some of it's technological limitations but also most people don't even know what a Apple computer is here, nevermind training staff.
And you bitch about vendor-lock in... You are living it. Ok. Use Amerok.. lol. Go ahead and prefer Windows over OS X... it's obviously out of ignorance and fear, not objective assesment.
Some buddies and i went to the Expo in question.. (Mostly to get some wii in action:) We saw the little tent these guys had set-up flogging a bunch of 3d related gear. I sat down and tried the 3d glases (same tech as iMaxx, with the semi-bulky glasses etc)
However, good fried who loves his flight sims actually spoke to the rep and tried the system this article refers to. Breifly.. his summary was something like "f&*king pile of sh!t". The head tracking system was "shakey" and the guy apparently could only demonstrate teh system on the windows desktop... No games, no 3d extrapolation of live TV, etc.
So i call bullshit.
Cheers.

The incident you are referring to was blown completely out of proportion. This is a guy who would have never endangered anyone but himself. He had a kindness and honesty that are rarely seen in current society. His kid was never in "mortal danger", that is complete crap. The footage you saw, made it look like they were closer then they were.
In the countless media interviews he did after, it was clear he was upset at people even thinking he would endager his son.
Molested female pigs??? are you fucking kidding? stfu. seriously.
vbs is certainly more capable than applescript, but not "better" or cheaper as he requested...
IMHO this is the kind of work OS X was built for.
Automator with applescript is mind bogglingly simple to use. It's totally focused on the tasks needed to achieve awesomely powerfull workflows very quickly. A real pity the client is not with OS X...
We don't all live in America. TripleJ in Australia is an excellent government funded contemporary - advertising free station... I'd love to be able to tune into it using my ipod.
i seriously don't think an extra menu item would be too much for the average user... especially given how easy the thumb wheel makes it to navigate through thousands of songs etc.
The current patent system seems to be falling apart, and needs urgent changes... but to say 'no single entity should be able to monopolize an idea' is silly. If there is no incentive to invest in a new ideas, those that need capital to develop may never come into existence.
This is perfectly illustrated in the case of CSIRO. They have not bought the IP in order to sue people, they actually invested the money into the research. Now they have a right to profit from the idea.
dude that's lame. the whole point being completely missed (by some) is that Apple's OS is designed to be used with just one mouse button. This drives the whole 'easy to use' message home to potential developers.
It's a product of the fact that most people (tm) use a mouse with one hand, while resting the other hand on the keyboard. The keyboard is assumed to be only used if necesary(unless you are extremely familiar with the layout, it requires significantly more effort to use), so the interface should be a series of logical decisions chosen by a click of the mouse. Basic functionality needs to be highly focused around on this context.
There are many examples & more detail available about this, google "graphic interface design rules" or not.
Lame troll. Reads like you had no response to his well reasoned post.
You are doing them a disservice. Apple makes great laptops. Quality build with a killer OS.

ha. the top hit is from 2007, the next is from 2004. Really drove that point home, eh?

Sure the tone is a little abrasive.. But doesn't this situation warrant some passion? Indoctrination of un-thinking is a very serious issue.
Partial score... WMP for mac has been crippled for ever. These components don't work %100, they certainly don't support the WM DRM.

such as...?
