It's a good thing we don't have a concept like minority rights, I mean it'd be silly if someone could interfere with my life liberty or happiness just because more people on their side thought they were right.
Except that national health care is highly unlikely to be unpopular. In countries that have national health care, again such as Britain and Germany, the national health care program is enormously popular. This is part of why the Republicans are fighting the idea so hard; they know that, much like Social Security, once a large national program is established to provide for everyone something that they want (cheaper health care), it will be impossible to kill again later.
Wait? People like Social Security?
That pit my employer and I throw money into every month? You realize in the United States there is a huge industry to actually save for retirement because we have no illusion that social security works right?
If I could opt out tomorrow I'd be waiting in the queue before dawn. 15% from me, 15% from my employer and 100% worthless.
How about this, you requested a stream of bytes over port 80, and I don't care what you do with them once they are out of my server, but they happen to be interpretable in a meaningful way to several popular programs. Now someone comes along and demands I change the bytes coming out of my server to be interpretable in a meaningful way in another program at my expense. I cannot possibly have freedom of the press if I cannot choose to send out the bytes I please from my own web server.
Isn't this analogous to passing laws telling newspapers they cannot use certain type faces because reading machines don't parse them well?
They are not being discriminated against. They are being served the bytes they requested just like anyone else. It is absurd to argue that I have to craft the bytes coming out of my box on port 80 in any specific way, just as it is absurd to argue the government should be involved in what does and does not constitute good html.
I think you're assuming casual gamers care about online play the same way hardcore gamers do. Personally I own a wii because it doesn't have a 'live' component like the xbox had.
Since you agree with him on this point I have to ask:
What's so bad about a tax haven?
I mean if you where buying a car you would shop around and find the one that suited your needs the closest, and then you would try to find who was willing to charge you the least for that car. Why wouldn't you shop around for a government? I mean if I thought I could find a more beneficial government that cost me less I would switch brands just like I'd switch any other brand, and I think competition for citizens probably would create better governments.
I have actually suspected Qwest of throttling WoW and the Wow patch downloader (which is torrent based), I just have no clue how I'd go about proving it.
I'd argue that this gives the federal government the ability to tax to pay for the things that are their job.
The other option would be to change the constitution to match what we are doing. I'm a rule follower.
You do realize that the military is a duty of the government laid out in the constitution. Healthcare is not, so the feds can't (Legally) have anything to do with it.
As someone who was a hardcore zelda fanboy (Yes I have one of the gold zelda carts) this game did my obsession in for me. I was almost screaming when I got the game, but I think I played it for like three or four hours, and never touched it again. It wasn't just bad, it was painfully bad. Other than the franchise it had little in common with the pervious zelda games, and a whole ton in common with the gobs of mediocre "collect them all" third person platformers the N64 was so fond of. I should go back and play a link to the past for the 5th time.
What kind of jerk ruins other people's hobbies? Do you go to golf courses, violate the rules of the greens, screw up the course to make a buck, and then say you're adding a service?
I don't want you there, my guild doesn't want you there, Blizzard doesn't want you around.
PS. I just want to let you know here, formally I want to opt out of ever seeing any spam from your members, if you fail to honor this request I will contact the BBB in your state. (You laugh but I've actually done this with peons4hire, I sent them a nice opt-out e-mail, and then reported each spam after that day to the florida BBB)
I'll second that
Everyone of my friends grabbed a copy quick (Accounting for the grat sales) and no one has played more than a few hours. One of my friends even commented that "It's like playing the boring parts of wow over and over"
And by this line of thought if this man turned out to be wrong, it would be a valid argument against gravity?
All I'm saying is if his work has merit he won't be considered a crackpot for long, and it makes it worth at least looking at his claim.
While it is possible that he is wrong, it wouldn't be the first time one guy turned out to be right over the establishment, anyone remember a man a long time ago called Galileo Galilei.

Thanks, I as I was re-thinking this in my head I thought it sounded high.
If it is so popular there should be no need to mandate participation, right? People will just opt in because they love it so much.

I'll be pouring one out tonight for all my chummers at FASA

I suspect your vote did count, unless your concept of democracy is different than the normal one.

and schools and drug enforcement, and possibly space exploration (no matter how cool some of those are)

My thoughts exatly. We should start a club.

Rant done.

That entry got lost, otherwise it'd have to be on there. Maybe it's blind.

I sure hope not OoT is the only zelda game I just flat out hate. Love all the others.
How to you explain Hong Kong not being like Somalia?
I thought Canada has signed the International IP treaty. They may be better than the us, but that's far from reasonable and fair.
Personally I think he's a hero for calling to light the anti-corporate dogma that's being pulled over our eyes.
