Recently I've noticed some alarming pessimism among Slashdotters about the state of science
So, you are going to make career decisions based on the mindset of a subset of the slashdot readership? For actual advice I would say do what you love and the rest will work itself out.
It takes 1 year to develop a deflection solution but it takes 27 years for the design to get through finance/purchasing and manufacturing once it goes to release.
Banning skinny models definitely would help fix the problem. I'm normally against such type of regulation but when the common person is blasted in the face by constant advertising in every form imaginable 24/7 then i tend to fall on the side of regulation.
It's not like the average person can moderate the amount of advertising that rapes their eyeballs and subconcious every day.
Newsflash, dickbags:
US intelligence services have ALWAYS been fucking awful. I don't care how many Jason Bourne movies you have watched, US intel has been shit since the day it started as the OSS. Please take the time to read the book, Legacy Of Ashes and you can begin to see what a clownshow US intelligence services have been for the past 60+ years.
You, sir, are correct. That is why the US has "classified by aggregation" status for documents. The individual documents would not be classified individually, but when you combine them with others they end up becoming classified.
Outliers are not the rule. That would be like claiming that since there is one women in the world that can run a 14min 5k that the bar should be raised for all women for competitive scoring.
It is NOT terrorism. It is fraud/theft. Here is a reference for you and the rest of congress so you can understand what "terrorism" really is: http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/terrorism
This reduces cost in the short-term but it will be a cost increase in the long-term.
It just takes 1 piece of malware on your network or one security event to loose all the financial benefit. Or how about when someone has a piece of pirated software on their personal machine that they are doing company work on? Or how about when someone loses a personal laptop without WDE that holds sensitive company information?
I wonder if this will result in a price hike since they will be losing all this juicy customer data that they may have been selling to "market research" vultures.
Does this mean that 1.3million Sprint users are on some DHS watchlist?
Why wouldn't they collect "diagnostics" on all 26 million? If I were a data analyst looking for useful data to "improve user experience" (or whatever it is they say they use it for) then I want the largest data set possible.
I'll bet that it accommodates the landing gear. The position of the "bumps" and the perceived mechanical angle of entry don't appear to be coincidental.
I know for a fact that the power company will alert the local police if a house has higher-than-average power consumption (a telltale sign of a grow operation).
Imagine if Google/Facebook blocked congressional IP blocks for a day. That would be a POWERFUL move. All of congress and even the white house use facebook and other social media as a primary medium to pump out their bullshit into the mouths of the masses each day. They would quickly realize that these companies have to much power and the sleeping giant would awake to crush them.

Are women generally less capable than men
Yes. Look at the physical fitness standards and scoring for the military if you don't believe so.
NBC reports that airport travelers left behind $409,085.56 in loose change at security checkpoints in 2010
More importantly how much of their dignity was left behind at the checkpoint after they had their asshole fingered by a former Burger King employee?
seriously... how is it not an act of terrorism?

It just takes one event.

What is so bad about George Soros again? He has done more than any other single person to help topple caustic communist regimes in the 20th century.

The mock American flag with skulls in the blue field in place of stars. Entertaining.

It detects drugs from your sweat not your fingerprints. Sweat exists on your fingers but it can really be used elsewhere on the body. Poor title.
