I personally am on the lookout for a Dreamcast. A savvy consumer can buy the DC and about 6--7 games for it, and an extra controller for about $150.. And maybe I'm blind, but I can't even tell the difference in graphics.

So I'll let you 1337 gamers spend $300 on your new systems and I'll scoop em 'up in a couple years when you're selling 'em for $50 and buying the next Tomagotchi.

Kinda agree with you there. But at least Mozilla doesn't strong-arm you into any format.

Fast render engine? Says who? Oh, you mean after the 6hrs it took you to compile it? Again, this relies on good designers, NOT the browsers.

I've never compiled Mozilla. It's available for download as a binary. Same with Opera. And Konqueror. And I say it's a fast render engine because I've seen both IE and other browsers rendering pages.

  15. Redhat's proposal on California Takes Issue With Microsoft Settlement Idea · · Score: 1, Interesting

Before I start this post, let me just say that I hate Microsoft as much as the next Slashdotter. I have an extreme distaste for their 'friendly GUI' and monopolistic business practices. But I think the Red Hat proposal is hypocritical and brings into action the exact same thing it is trying to stop.
Let's say Red Hat wins and we have a bunch of computers installed with Red Hat. We are attempting to breed children on linux. But why is this better than breeding children on Windows? Because a bunch of people that like linux and that own companies related to it said so. By doing this, we would only be starting a new monopoly, rather than defeating the one in place and promoting choice amongst people that use computers.
As for a better proposal: I think Microsoft should be forced to pay for several different kinds of computers in schools. Give these schools not only Red Hat Linux, but MacOS, and Windows even, but let the children choose, because in the end, that is what we are trying to protect. Make Microsoft pay for EVERYTHING and the suit will have screwed them a fair amount too.
I very much dislike Microsoft. But I don't want to fight fire with fire, and I think anybody that does so will get burned.
    Just my two cents.

In my class, I know more than my teacher, who said that HDRAM was the best type of RAM available and thinks that all engineering is done on RISC processors.

If it weren't for my indulgence in the free software world, I probably would've never known that there was an OS other than Windows or Mac OS, simply because people like this teacher (ignorant) choose simply to teach only MS Office and pals.
