It just tickles my fancy
when my alarm goes off,
I pounce out of my bed
like a little boy at
christmas time, I run
over to see what good
news slashdot brings,
and bam! SCO news! Sweet!
Gotta love it!
Before I installed RedHat 9 my GF was rebooting into windows all the time (I had this WindowMaker+assorted tools setup) becuase she just felt Windows was easier to use. After I reinstalled with RedHat 9 and decided to stop mess around I realised that she wasn't rebooting anymore. I didn't even ask her. She really felt it was nicer to use the GNOME desktop than Windows.
$400+ for MS Office which runs at a reasonable speed, or $0 for OpenOffice which runs slightly slower...hmmm i can't decide...oh yeah, and the potential for OpenOffice to get faster & better (smarter programmers and larger developing community) is much much higher than its counterpart MS Office.
i still can't decide...let's check how much cash is in my wallet......shoot only $5, guess you know what I'll choose.
i've installed debian many times, by far my favorite distro, but i agree that the install is a pain...always having to click yes to the default, when it should just automatically be selected for you...otherwise, i think it's kinda fun, each install brings new and interesting things that i have to tinker with until i get the system up and running...i think it's kinda fun!!!
I've seen comp sci. groups attempt to get started or become something bigger than it already was
One was at the college level, the other was more of a community wide group.
I think in the beginning there are several important things that need to be done or atleast considered... 1. create a mission statement, what is this
group's goal? 2. create a website, put on it useful information
and probably a FAQ page for newbies 3. create fliers/posters and plaster them
everywhere, get the word out 4. once you have members, you need to establish
some type of organization...either create
club positions (president, webmaster, etc.)
or something along those lines 5. once you've got an organized group, create
some sort of official constitution or
something describing your group and purpose 6. schedule events, stay active, don't get lazy
even if attendance is down, continue onward!
i don't understand why we have to print anything in the first place...all those papers, memos, etc. can all be sent electronically nowadays anyways...we should save those trees
but, if ya need a printer, i agree, don't buy a lexmark...they're el-sucko
Has anybody seen my winXP box?
I thought I had one laying around
here but I must've mispaced it.
I guess I'll have to stick with
that 'linux' stuff
So... who *DIDN'T* see this coming 50 miles away?
50 miles? or 50 million miles?
ahhh! the numbers are confusing me
