That's my point exactly. The non salary income probably does not enter into the statistics you mentioned.
The income figures you are sighting aren't just for "wages", although thats the term generally used in IRS-speak. In-kind "earnings", capital gains, etc. are all included. Did you ever stop and think that the few hundred bucks the average middle class family writes off every year in charitable donations and possibly mortage interest, etc. is probably about the same percentage of their overall income that people who make millions per year "hide"?
Look at Steven Jobs. His official salary is $1.00 per year. Yes one dollar per year. You really think that's his total income?
That is a perfect illustration that you understand nothing about accounting, or how corporations operate. Yes, his salary may be $1 per year. HIS SALARY. That is only a component of his overall compensation package (which is also taxable), in which he chose/it was negotiated that he would not get a salary, but be compensated with stock, options, etc. The only reason there is a salary figure in there at all is because to officially work for a company in the US, you MUST be paid a salary. The $1 a year is a mere formality. Most COB's of medium and larger organizations receive the same SALARY.
Get out int he real world and learn something before spouting off.
Can you imagine how much the US would hurt if people decided to abandon the Dollar (to which they only held on because the US Gov in the past was working for a strong Dollar) and move into the Euro?
All off the sudden the US would need to buy Euros in order to do foreign trade, which in turn would bring the Euro up higher and the USD down even more which in turn would mean higher prices at home, for EVERYTHING. Have a look next time you're shopping where your stuff is coming from and you will realize just how fucked up for the US that would be.
And you completely skip the balancing part of that economic concept: where our exported good cost less therefore become more competitive in the world market, lowering our trade deficit, creating more jobs, and recovering our white collar IT jobs back from India, because it is now cheaper to hire our own workers, and possibly even for other countries to hire our workers/contract out to us.
have thought of doing a mod that merged a LCD and a computer but I was going to slightly enlarge the LCD's case and hide the computer inside such that you'd have an overall MUCH smaller less messy package
Sorry. You'll have to come up with a new idea if you want to be original.
It only costs $5 to submit it online. If you hit the "Register by Mail" button you can print out the form and mail it in for the cost of a stamp and envelope.
This kind of shit kills me. Are they trying to tell us it's somehow cheaper for them to get a paper letter, open it, and key in information rather than appending to a database every so often filled up by people submitting web forms?
By the way, I haven't tried the Guinnes-in-a-can yet. I'm not a total snob, but other beers aren't as good in the can, so I assumed Guiness would have the same problem. How is it? And can you pour yourself a four-leaf clover in the head with the can?:-)
It's the best beer in a can I've had....but that's not to be taken as a glowing review. It's fine, much better than other canned beer, and much better than no Guiness at all.
The head seems to be about the same as one would get in most American bars....just about enough to kind of make the clover and have it last for a bit. Nothing like the head from a proper keg and tap combo like I've had in most places I've been in Europe. I don't know what's different about Guniess over there.....but it's much better.

Guinness is supposed to be drunk at room temp not 8-10 Deg C.
Where did you get that idea from? When I'm misfortunate engouh to have to travel and find myself in Ireland/Great Britan/etc, Guiness is the only thing I can drink because everything else is piss poor as well as piss warm.
ik9os is the image name of the IP PLUS FW/IDS IPSEC IOS image. It comes from the filenaming convention cisco uses.
{platform}-{image_type}-mz-{release_no}.bin
I actually tyoped that one, and intended to say ik9o3s, although it wouldn't really effect your firewall performance (the difference beinf 56 bit or 128 bit - 3DES - IPSec capability).
Okay, you're the only person in the world who is allowed to be interested in or even practice network security.
The original post doesn't show interest, it demonstrates ignorance.
The saddest part is that I'm pointing out very basic and very obvious facts. What I've mentioned so far can't even be considered "expert" level knowledge.
And before someone who reads too many magazines and has too little actual experience tryes to reply to this, yes I know IOS as a firewall isn't stateful. A PIX isn't truly stateful either. And very few people actually NEED a stateful firewall (lots want, few need...there's a difference).
There is also a tendancy to want to route thru a PIX and to use Routers as firewalls
Oh...you're talking about people who have no real business touching edge equipment in the first place. Nevermind...I was confused by thinking you meant actual network engineers who know what they are doing.
And, FYI, a properly-sized IOS router with an ik9os image makes a damn fine firewall. You just don't have a point and drool interface like a PIX to admin it by (which doesn't realy reflect the actualy config of the device in all circumatances anyway....even if the entire config was vuilt through it).
You're a moron to mention that you have trouble with this publically. They are obviously different devices, targeted at different tasks, running completely different OSs, on completely different hardware platforms. It's also OT.
Granted most office space is/should be wired, but by choosing a place that isn't could save you a lot of money. You might even want to have your business very mobile
Just a thought.
And and incorrect one at that. Cabling is a very minor cost in the total makeup of moving an office. And proper setup of wireless access points (yes, there is more to it than putting an AP on a desk in each corner of the building or wherever you notice a dead spot) will cost far more than dropping cable. And if you really have the density of workstations to make it cheaper to properly carpet bomb your office with wireless, you won't have enough wireless bandwidth for all of your clients to make it usable. No matter what letter you put after 802.11.
Not to mention the fact that your entire network can be taken down by someone who has a $15 cordless phone within a few hundred feet of your office.
Because you can still get right into the plastic underneath the column and take the actual ignition switch off of the key mechanism with a scredriver and a pait of plyers.
No, stealing card isn't my side-business, but a neighbor asked if there was any way for me to get their car started after part of their kid's plastic toy was stuck in the key hole.
If I recall correctly here in Canada at least it's illegal to sell your product below cost with the purpose of driving your competitors out of buisness.
Which is yet another antiquated law that is basically unenforcable in both the software and service industries because it's nearly impossible to place a true "cost of good sold" on software and services (from a legal standpoint....you better believe MS know EXACTLY how much it costs them).
Laws will continue to be dinosours as long as old men who aren't in touch with current business and economic trends are running countries.

+1 - Poster lives in the real world with eyes open
The hotel could configure it to handle bill payment and other hotel services
You mean a $2500+ mirror TV could be configured to do what every TV in every half decent hotel already does? Amazing.
And I thought it was Up Up Down Down Left Right Left Right B A Start.
Isn't that "everyone hates you" in GTA3?

If a wireless b device messes up, they need to upgrade

ethernet to fiber drivers that ran 100 base-t (2/3 of a T1)
Since when is a T1 154 MB? Try 1.54.
