I just have my server redirect people that directly link to a page I don't want them to (irc channel server list for example) to a nice little javascript.open infinate loop a la beast & oldie porn ads, goatse.cx, and the little thing that resizes to full screen and says "Hey everybody, I'm looking at gay porno!" Oh, and I do mark pages I do not want linked as being so repeatedly. I figure if they want to be dicks, they deserve it.
I used to learn so much that I was into middle school academic levels in some subjects before I even started going to school. Then it all went downhill. After 16 years in the public education system (including college), I've progressed maybe 9 years. Could have progressed faster, but school has a way of wanting to suck up every free second of your life.
My grades dropped like a rock because I was neglecting homework and projects to look up the information they would (sometimes outright) refuse to teach. Don't let school interfere with your education. IMHO The public educational system is more of a way to break in kids than an institution for learning.
That 120TB will be filled with heavily bloated DRM, compulsery spyware, and 1200x1024x32bit+ advertisement videos with embeded scripts that have almost virus like "features" (mark all pics and vids on HD with logos, insert advertisements in documents, make system not boot without reading advertisement, randomly play comercials, etc.) Then there is the 72GB+ windows install if you go that way...
Just an observation of the way things are going...:/
Experience and $20,000 down the crapper bought me this little bit of knowledge. Universities are for aquiring money and fame for itself, training people to accept cubicle work, and if there is any time left, a little bit of knowlege. I flunked out of VT because I was spending all the time I was supposed to be doing the mind knumbingly repedative homework with insane formating requirements that changed at a moments notice actually trying dig up information. Information they refused to even discuss in or after class. This is despite the information being relivant to the subject if not required for the class. Bitch about it and all you'll get is something along the lines of "this is what the corporations want." Try to expand your horizons, and you'll find out that you have to be a grad student almost all the time. You can't do it yourself because all the time not doing work is spent recovering, sleeping, eating, and if you have time, hygene.
The beer, drugs, sex, and parties just help you deal with all the BS and the "I haven't slept in 3 days" projects. Do not let the loud mouths fool you into trying to get through 4 years without partying and mates. Listen and burn out after a semester or 2 and end up on anti-depressants.
About the only knowledge you will get from them after 4 years is what the diploma looks like. The rest is all you. They hype that college helps you land a job. I know a EE major that excelled through and is a TA at the moment. His garenteed job is a sales representative for an electronics manufacturer. Geez...what would I get for finishing CS? Telemarketer for accounting software?
There are actually several M.U.L.E. clones out there. I recall one called M.U.L.E. 386 that was looked promising (when you could get it to work) but was discontinued in the early 90's. Apparently there is one that was developed buy a guy, but dropped in 2000 because he did not have the time to finish it, and it is open source. Anyone want to adopt it?
Here is a link to a page that lists multiple clones, including the open source one.
Another corporate sucker. Yeah, the sales for music where down 2001 because of file swapping, the lack of it as the people who used to be on napster had to find an alternative, which took time. Oh, well, I guess I'll only still buy the stuff off of them that they sell for less than they paid for it the day after Thanksgiving.
A thought: Bestbuy suit bitching about mp3's, and the Best Buys I know of are well known for people being able to lift and just walk out the door with CD's. Go figure.
Looks like all the https 404 and the ftps are full. Joy, guess I'll have to wait a few days before test installing it on my lab rat box.

I have Dysgraphia, which is apparent with my writing and listening. Please read the link before going on. It takes me approximately twice as long as someone else at my level of intelligence and education to write prose. In addition, the product usually ends up showing the evidence indicated in the article. I constantly have to backtrack in my writing and correct my writting even with all the errors the final product has. I find my thoughts drastically outpacing my ability to write, so often large chucks of the ideas will be missing and the work will appear to jump around from one seemingly unrelated idea to another, despite my attempts to mentally back track. Needless to say, I find this frustrating.
Second, I can not recall a specific name for this condition. I shall try and explain what happens the best I can. The right side of my brain, usually associated with artistic thought, dominantly handles my sences. Basically, I sence things like I am left handed. I am not left handed however, the left side of my brain is the dominant controler of my moter skills making me right handed. This causes problems because I do not sence things the same way most people do, I may find some obsure meaning from a situation where just about everyone else picks up on the logical meaning right away. On the other side of the coin, when I try to express myself, I have trouble expressing the parts of my ideas that "paint the picture." For the record now, up until this point I have been writing for about 25 minutes. As stated in the previous post, I can overcome some of this by concentrating harder. But, it has a tendancy to burn me out quicker mentally.
In addition, although not disabilities, I have Dysthymic Disorder [basically long term (~10 years) mild depression] and Avoidant Personality Disorder (I do not like being with groups of people, but am not hostile towards them.) These are my souvenirs from America's wonderful public educational system.
Thanks for taking an interest.

Then you, sir, have a very inadiquate means of passing judgement others. Some people do not have the spare time or are not willing to waste it to proof read and render thier prose socially acceptable.
For the record, I have a mental retardation to where I can not understand spoken language well. This also affects my ability to compose speech and prose in a manor to which it appears to be above the US average for adults. I could give you a more detailed reason why, but I doubt it interests you. No, I was not dropped on my head, trolls. No, I was not fed poison.
I can temporarily circumvent this problem by concentrating harder on the task. However, this causes my mental capabilities to tire faster than normal. Because of this, I do not dedicate such resources to the matter unless I feel it necessary to do so.
I usually do not bother as I find the english language extremely inadiquate and inacurate anyway. The best one can expect after conveying an idea to another is that they at least have an aproximation of it. I do not see the point of wasting my time in this endevor in informal communication because it reaks of arrogance, blind social conformity, and a crippling of the entire point of the existance of the language to begin with, communication. One favors security, rules, and regulations over freedom of expression.
In other news, AOL/Time Warner, parent company of CNN, filed a formal complaint with the USDOJ today, claiming that that the chatting system "IRC" aids both hackers and pirates. "This is in violation of the DCMA and must be stopped," an anonymous executive is quoted as saying. "For instance, the amount of pirated TV shows has skyrocketed on IRC. Thats bad for business." Another anonymous employee also noted, "IRC is a haven for pedophiles and terrorists, would you want to be known with these people?" Officials from AOL/Time Warner state the recent groundswell of anti-IRC sentiment of the general public justifies shutting down IRC.
In other words, just more FUD to get Joe Blow to bend over a little further. Plus, it wouldn't hurt AIM, now would it?

Seriously though, if you demand perfection from everyone all your life, you are always going to be disappointed. Oh, and you should get your priorities straight. Perfect spelling, grammer, and usage are not required for informal communication. The point is comunicating, not "lewkie here, yeserie! I be ejumucated. I be outs smarten da bes of d'em!" "Holyer than thou" attitudes have a tendancy of just pissing people off.

Where can I get access to more information in this area. I have been interested in subatomics and quantum physics for a while. But everytime I go looking for the information, I seem to run into a "for the privilaged only" barrier. I suppose if I really tried, I could find a textbook out their. However, university level textbooks have a tendancy to help encourage students to attend lectures to make sence of it.

The name comes from the idea of neutron stars. In what is commonly thought of at the normal state of matter, atoms are forced apart by their mutually repulsive forces. With neutron stars, the gravity is so intense that the repulsive forces are overcome and the seperate atoms basically collapse into one another and form a really big ball of neutrons, hense the name. (Note: I don't know where the protons or the elections go, especially since the electrons are needed to emit the light.) Basically they are speculating that it is the quarks' mutual repulsive forces that are holding the star's mass from collapsing even further into a black hole, singularity, gravastar, or whatever they want to call it nowadays.
Since we know where to get T1 around here from $400 to $550 a month, the neighbors and I have been looking into leasing one and spliting it between ourselves. The biggest problem has been making it so the neighbors get the signal since running fiber or UTP would likely piss off the city. Broadcasting it would seem to likely violate something with the FCC.
I have been considering making a setup that uses lasers pointing at light detectors as a means of communicating the signal, but I don't know the voltage and wattage statistics for 10baseT ethernet. One of the neighbors says it might be easier just to airport it. Any ideas from the more clueful?
I suspect that if the techies did make their own private network over the interent and it became popular, the MPAA and RIAA would have it shut down for some trumped up charge. Maybe because people can use it to transfer "pirated" files, violates the DCMA in some obscure way, and/or infringes on a few letters from some trademark. Remember, the corps want us to be good little consumers, no matter if we think we are otherwise. We'll get spanked if we spit in their face.;P
