    Oh very nice attitude. Exactly what we need to ensure good governance. Educated people sitting at home on election day. After all, you can't be bothered to spend 20 minutes going to the polling booth once every 5 years, can you?

    Don't bother complaining about the government again. You don't have that right.

    You're free to release your code with a license saying you may only use the code while doing headstands. That doesn't mean anyone else has to accept it.

    And I think the "encumberances" of the GPL basically do little more than to say that you can't take someone's code and take away the freedom that you had when you redistribute it.

    There's people out there who steal millions of dollars in white collar crimes. Yet they arrest people for holding up convenience stores and stealing $150?

    I hope that was a typo and you meant he SHOULD go to jail!

    Pranking 911 is a misdemeanor in most states, and IMHO richly deserves some jail time, especially if its something done in a calculated way like this, not just some one-time prank pulled in a drunken stupor.

    Maybe I'm wrong about how the "bandwidth" of the oscilloscope is described then. What I had in mind was a signal with bandwidth of 40Mhz. i,e, the highest fourier component would be 40Mhz.

    The bandwidth of any signal that is not wave goes beyond its lowest spectrum spike.
    I would love to respond, but I couldn't parse this sentence. Could you rephrase?

    Calculate 10 samples per Hz of the signal that you're sampling
    Why? Remember Nyquist theorem? Yes, you can't get perfectly square filters, but a 10x oversampling is a big overkill.

    Have several humans check it. Have the human check only a small number of e-mails at a time so that he/she is unlikely to make a mistake.

    The statement would probably be better phrased as "more accurate than humans under typical conditions"

    It used to be that cash and purchases were treated the same, with basically a month interest-free loan as long as you paid your bill in full


    That is not always true. Check the fine print on your cards. On all of my cards there is no grace period for cash advances. You accrue interest from the date you take the advance even if you pay it the same month. Moreover, there is often a fee for cash advances that is higher than using an ATM ($5 on my chase platinum card)

    That said, if your only choice is to use a shady ATM that might be rigged, its safer to spend a few extra bucks on credit card charges, because fraudulint charges on your credit card are a lot easier to get reversed than fraudulant withdrawals from your account.
