From Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pork_barrel
Pork barrel, in a literal sense, is a barrel in which pork is kept, but figuratively is a supply of money; often the source of one's livelihood.
In politics, a pork barrel (or pork barrel politics) is a derogatory term describing government spending that is intended to benefit constituents of a politician in return for their political support, either in the form of campaign contributions or votes. The term is thought to have originated on Southern plantations, where slaves were allocated the unwanted remainder of slaughtered pigs, or the "pork barrel". Typically it involves funding for government programs whose economic or service benefits are concentrated in a particular area but whose costs are spread among all taxpayers. Public works projects and agricultural subsidies are the most commonly cited examples, but they do not exhaust the possibilities. Pork barrel spending is often allocated through last-minute additions to appropriation bills.
One of the earliest examples of pork barrel politics in the United States was the Bonus Bill of 1817, which was introduced by John C. Calhoun to construct highways linking the East and South of the United States to its Western frontier using the earnings bonus from the Second Bank of the United States. Calhoun argued for it using general welfare and post roads clauses of the United States Constitution. Although he approved of the economic development goal, President James Madison vetoed the bill as unconstitutional. Since then, however, U.S. presidents have seen the political advantage of pork barrel politics. The Oxford English Dictionary gives the first appearance of the term in print as 1909, in the Westminster Gazette:
"The Democratic Party...has periodically inveighed against the extravagance of the present administration, but its representatives in the Legislature have exercised no critical surveillance over their appropriations. They have preferred to take for their own constituencies whatever could be got out of the Congressional 'pork barrel'."
In recent years, a famous pork barrel project is the Interstate 99 designation that was written into law by Pennsylvania Representative Bud Shuster. The number was disputed by road scholars, who envisioned it as a number for a new freeway running along the Atlantic coast. I-99's location is a violation of the Interstate system's numbering rules, as it is located west of Interstate 81 and seven other Interstates whose numerical values are less than 99. Two other interstates, I-66 in Kentucky and I-86 in New York, have also had their designations written into law since.
Pork barrel projects or earmarks are added to the federal budget by members of the appropriation committees of Congress. This allows delivery of federal funds to the local district or state of the appropriation committee member, often accommodating major campaign contributors. To a certain extent a congressman or congresswoman is judged by their ability to deliver funds to their constituents. The Chairman and the Ranking member of the U.S. Senate Committee on Appropriations are in a position to deliver significant benefits to their states. Likewise a Representative such as Anne M. Northup (R-Ky.), a Republican first elected in 1997 from the previously Democratic 3rd Congressional district (Louisville, Kentucky), was able to deliver significant financial benefits to her district through her appointment as a freshman member to the U.S. House Committee on Appropriations.
You dont use much wifi do you? Now I dont live in BF egypt like that but in NYC I can get wifi on my laptop from my car pretty much anywhere I want... And I have borrowed some net access in the past, but only for work not to U/L anything.
Umm nice try... However I can recall having an RC Grasshoper when I was a kid. It had a servo controling a variable resister that acted as a throttle. Its not the most reiable method of speed control, but its cheaper then the electric speed controlers.... at least back then.
I LOVE FreshDirect. I live in Queens. (Near Shea Stadium.) It is the best thing that has ever happened to my weekend. The food quality is unbelievable, and prices are more then reasonable. If you live anywhere near Fresh Direct in Long Island City...(look for the JumboTron), give it a try.
Did YOU RTFA? It was transferred in 1999 to The Dept of Homeland Security. The article also states that in '54 some scientists were looking to cook up ways to inflict damage on Soviet livestock. You are right there is no "secret gub'mint bug lab" here.....its public knowledge. Could someone with mod points plese dispose of the parent troll?
I was troubleshooting a problem that my client was having today, so I traced his IP and found a misconfigured (jacked) router on the "myvzw" network. The thing was routing packets to itself, preventing anything from sending data to him........ "Can you get packets now?"
How about using a DC->AC inverter and plugging a UPS into that. It will help smooth out spikes and lulls and will give the added benifit of a gracefull shutdown in the event that the car is off for too long.
I did somthing similer at my old office..
We used a parallel port on a pc wired to the RC controller via relays, then used a runtime version of Dragon's speach software and some quick and dirty VB (gasp)to drive the thing using a headset. After this we tried sticking an X10 cam on it, but the bumping caused VERY poor performance from the cam. I would love to do an 802.11B version of an RC Blimp. Anyone ever see these things? How much weight can they carry?
My old company shipped a large IBM server from NYC to Conn. via FedEx. By the time it arrived to its destination it was completly destroyed... I cant fathom any "accident" that could have led to this, short of a plane crash. It was shipped in the original packaging etc..etc... FedEx did accept responsability for it but it took upwards of 6 months to see any money for it. I honestly dont think it matters what carrier you use since they all use cheap labor to get the job done. Ever wonder why you have to pay for shipping AND handling? From now on I would prefer if they would just ship and DO NOT handle!!!
I used to work for a company that sold them, and I must say that they live up to there name. Some of them have built in wireless networking available. Get yourself a nice mount and your in business (or farming as the case may be). If you need a good resource for it drop me a line and I can put you in touch....
Way to pimp your own site..... noob
I think they should send it to him......on 5.25" floppies :-)

I built a Lego JetPack once... It only worked once before turning into a molten pile of plastic.
