I remember reading somewhere that while this FFII is original Japanese FFII, it's still not an exact port of the original, that it had been changed quite a bit to suit American gaming styles/preferences...does anyone know if that's true or not?
If so, then I'll pass...I want the original in all it's supposedly 'difficult and confusing' glory.
my problem isn't with the gil buying/selling...my problem has more to do with billing.
I purchased the game/HDD on the day of release back in February and played it for months with no problems at all. On very short notice, I was sent on a series of business trips that required me to be away from my PS2 and unable to change the billing over to another credit card tied to my national banking account, which is where I would be putting my money (as opposed to my regional credit union, since I wouldn't have access to them for purposes of depositing/accessing my money)...as a result, my bill rejected one month, and by the time I returned, I was on a 'final notice' (never having recieved any previous notices) and informed that my reg-code had been disabled.
I then called SquareEnix customer service (or SOE, it wasn't really clear whom I was speaking to) to make a payment, and was told that I needed to mail in a payment, which was fine. Now here's where the problem develops...my now invalid registration code would not be reactivated. The only suggestion offered by customer service was to go and purchase the game a second time and use that registration code...that's fine, if I were using my PC and the new code would've only cost me 40 USD...but I had a PS2/HDD unit, and they weren't entirely positive that the reg-codes crossed over. I was also told that my expansion pack would have to be repurchased, since it's code was invalid now, as well. Same solution offered.
My reaction to all of this was to draft a 14 USD check, mail it in, and vow to never again purchase any game, product or service offered by a company whose games, products and services I had become very loyal to.
I still miss FFXI, but I refuse to change my stance until some gestre has been made to rectify my situation, one that I was lead to believe was not unique to myself...
(NOTE: Yes, it's my own fault that I failed to ensure that my regional account had enough money in it to cover the cost of billing for several months time, but I hadn't anticipated this becoming such an issue.)
well, by that logic, I should be able to play FIFA or Tony Hawk on my PS2 and combat those on XBox...but it isn't going to happen. It'd be super great, though...then I wouldn't feel the need to invest in games twice to play specific friends, etc.
It allowed me to dispose of several mem-cards and it's pretty easy to transfer back and forth...I also don't have to worry about demos causing problems w/ my saves on the HDD because none of them that I've played have the capability of writing to the HDD. Not yet, at least.
but...but...but....Xenosaga: Episode II comes out in February!! how am I expected to devote hundreds of hours to both games if they come out so close to one another?!
well, at this rate, you may see another price drop on the PS2 before GT4 comes out...so this delay is saving you, and others of a like mindset, some scratch.
Polyphony Digital: Saving you money through production delays!
While I'll admit that gaming magazines prety much equate to barely being worth the trees killed to print them, Game Informer has typically had a good rate of success with reporting things of this nature. Furthermore, I believe that they got this straight from the horses mouth (in this case a Bungie rep).
They've outlived almost every other complex organism going, and they're fooled by a silicon box. Cockroaches get what they deserve if they fall for this thing.
Huh, go figure...I hadn't even thought of it that way. I just looked at it from the perspective of having already exhausted all other reputable resources (that were free, natch), and tried Jeeves a whim moreso than anything else. *shrug*
February 9th being the release date of Halo 3, as this months Game Informer clearly states in their 'connect' section that Halo 3 is slated for inclusion in the Xbox 2 lineup, not Xbox.
I'd say that speculation of this date signifying the release of downloadable content is probably the best bet.
What's the play time like? My 20k gets me through about 2 months or so...900k, though? And what kind of load time is he looking at if he decides to add all of those songs to a playlist on startup, having it show all pertinent info on every single song?

Look cool? Judging from the picture, you'd look cooler on a pogo-stick.

what, pray tell, is a 'master peace'? whatever it is, i don't see the Master Chief having dominion over it.
I have one, thanks. But this wasn't about Xbox, was it? Had it been about a problem w/ the Xbox, I wouldn't have brought up the PS2.
I'm so glad that this site is populated by the likes of you, lest we all feel as though everything smarmy in life had dried up and blown away.
Has Sony officially dubbed the baby PS2, PStwo yet? They ought to if they haven't.
Then who made the flies?! I'm scared :(
I miss FFXI :(
Too bad SquareEnix has a policy of not giving a damn about some things....
I blame it on an ever-present sense of laziness that seems to permeate most demo-disc projects.
doooooooooooooooorks ;)
Spiders weren't invented until *after* the internet was hatched in Al Gore's closet. Duh.

Yeah, don't not get one because you think it's passe`...do it because you're broke.
All too true, sadly. The best I can say about Dogma is that it LOOKS nice, as in the camera work...and Matt Damon was convincing as a drunk angel.
Is 7-11 hiring right now?
Or Kevin Smith's 'Jersey Trilogy', that is now continuing on to it's sixth movie with the confirmed Clerk's sequel.
I don't know if anyone had pointed this out yet, but Disney has partnered w/ Studio Ghibli and is now distributing their films here in the US.

And what's wrong with looking twice, anyway?
