  1. The 7th Guest on What Games Have Actually Affected You? · · Score: 1

I think for me the one that freaked me out the most was The 7th Guest. Getting trapped in that basement maze and hearing that falling piano in surround sound scared the crap out of me.

  2. Abandon Ship.... on Apple Announces the Fate of Shake · · Score: 1
I've been using Shake for a few years now and basically myself, and the studios I've been in contact have seemed to have decided two things regarding this. First most will just stop at 2.5 (last for Win, Linux, and Irix it seems), Shake is a great product and they just simply aren't going to upgrade or switch to Mac because of the cost and performance issues with the Mac. Plus all the custom scripts, plugins, etc written for their studio. Most studios have already bought licenses of Rayz or Combustion for their work now since it seems that Shake is dieing slowly.

It is really a shame, especially when Shake was becoming so common and was really kicking butt on the Linux side. It seems that Apple has signed the death warrant for serious compositing in Shake and now we are just left with iShake for Final Cut Pro enthusiasts.

BTW: I use IRIX, Linux, PC, and Mac in my work so I'm not creating a bashing thread here just the thoughts from the industry I'm part of.

  3. could be another "The Critic" on Concerning The Cancellation of Futurama · · Score: 1
For some reason I see this could become like the former primetime animated series The Critic that started on ABC then went to FOX then to Comedy Central and final to the Internet on Atomfilms.

Of course there were other ones like Capital Critters (anyone remember that?) that didn't last long at all.

Anyhow Futurama has had a hard time holding its own from the beginning. Some people attribute this to it not being done by Film Roman, the ones responsable for the work behind The Simpsons and King of the Hill, but I doubt that is it.

I personally miss primetime animated series so I hope the petition goes through so everyone sign away :o)

  4. Re:DivX on Limited-Use DVD Technology · · Score: 1
Just an FYI- DivX was not just done by Ciruit City. It was actually a platform developed by Circuit City and Blockbuster and made deals with studios to release discs in DivX platform. Blockbuster ended up backing up right before release and Circuit City was stuck with it. I think they made a good effort, given their limited market influence. BTW this is why it took so long for Blockbuster to get DVDs when other stores (like Hollywood Video) already had DVDs as soon as they came out.

However when DivX went under everyone who bought a DVD player w/ DivX got $100-150 back so its all good in the end. However these new platforms are just a bunch of crap but history always repeats itself
    ;o)

  5. It is real and is coming here next year on Nintendo GameCube Clone Out In Japan · · Score: 1

Hello... This unit is real it is basically the gamecube w/ a DVD player on top. This is meant to compete w/ the buyers who want a PS2 or Xbox for DVD playing needs. I got to see this unit at e3 this year and it is what I plan on buying next year. Gamecube all the way ;)
