    "X Windows" is slang. The proper name is "X Window System". From the X man page:

    "The X Consortium requests that the following names be used when referring to this software:

    • X
    • X Window System
    • X Version 11
    • X Window System, Version 11
    • X11
    X Window System is a trademark of X Consortium, Inc."

    They seem pretty clear on the legal issues.

    I don't know the answer to your question, but I did notice something interesting. Compare his name with Linux:
    • L<->L
    • i<->i
    • n<->n
    • u<->u
    • s<->x

    Four out of five matches!!! Of course, I'm a pretty big word geek, nobody else probably noticed this little bit of trivia. Kind of makes you wonder if he was named after Linux. :-)

    Marking it 'return to sender' just gets it thrown in the garbage by the post office. Anything sent third class (bulk) mail doesn't get returned.
