    You don't have to give up security OR features - just use Java or .NET .

    But you do give up speed.

    Thankfully, 1000MHZ computers are now low end, so who cares? A couple of order of magnitudes increase in security is worth a halving of speed.

    It pains me to see someone who has written a book called Secure Programming for Linux and Unix HOWTO, Tools section writing a tool for heuristically checking for security problems in an unsafe language like C or C++.

    You're implicitly encouraging the use of two of the only languages that are known to be enablers for severe security problems.

    You'd think you'd be advocating modern languages. Here's a question - Why aren't you?

    It's a shame that noone will understand what you've said, though... hopefully you'll be modded up. This is the most convincing argument I've ever heard for Macs being more secure than other OSes (albeit not revolutionary in its security, of course).

    Well you see son, there's your arithmetic series and there's your geometric series.

    At least, that's the way it's taught in high school math. Presumably, the writers for T2 didn't major in the Math or Sciences. Don't blame them, but there you are. "Geometric rate" is exactly the sort of thing someone would say if their math education never extended beyond high school Algebra.

    Actually, I picked up the Thinkpad 240 ( it's the same form factor, 300mhz, has a 10.4 inch screen instead of your 8inch screen). It was a lot more expensive than $200 and only runs for about 1 1/2 on batteries (heh), but god is it a sweet little machine.

    Because Java is miles beyond what HTML can do. It's a fuller featured, faster, lower latency user interface.
