    I believe that the stat is skewed.

    I have friends in India, Bangladesh, Africa, Thailand, Indonesia who sell phones, and they tell me that, for every one Nokia smartphone that they sell, they sell 8 Nokia non-Smartphones.

    Nokia's offerings in many 3rd world countries are largely comprise of very cheap cellphones, selling as cheap as 15 euro (or about 20 USD) a pop.

    None of those phones has Windows installed on them.

    What Infosys had trespassed is way much than mere money.

    What Infosys had indeed done was breaking THE SOVEREIGNTY of The United States of America !!!

    Every country has its own set of laws, and the laws signified that that country has its own sovereignty over what transpired INSIDE its own border.

    What Infosys did, by bringing in FOREIGNERS from OUTSIDE of the country, and put them to work ILLEGALLY, INSIDE the country, Infosys has IGNORED THE SOVEREIGNTY RIGHT of the United States of America !!!

    And that company, Infosys, itself is a FOREIGN COMPANY !

    Why are we allowing a FOREIGN COMPANY to carry out such an illegal act of violating our nation's sovereignty, inside our country ?

    The absence of competition in this area drives many to Google, making data siphoning easy for the NSA.

    For me, I do not use any provider that has their HQ inside the United States of America.

    Whether or not taxpayer-funded research should be accissible to the taxpayers for FREE is a matter to be acertained, but the fact is that it is no longer possible for anyone, including the professional researchers, to know where to find the result of the various facet of related research on a given field.

    It is as if we are back to the pre-Internet days.

    Before Internet, it was a Herculean task to find out if there had been a research carried out on any particular subject, simply because there was no one central database.

    When Internet first arrived, the situation was greatly improved - although there were still no centralized database for all research results, at the very least we could search for it online.

    Now ?

    Not only the research papers are hidden behind paywalled, most of them don't even appear on search queries anymore.

    Paywall does not only representing GREED that is retarding the progress of the human society, it is actually STRANGLING the progress of scientific research.

    I came from China.

    I, and many others, risking our lives and swam to Hong Kong back in the 1970's. They were shooting at us, back then.

    We risked our lives not because we were poor (and we were) but because there was NO FREEDOM for the people.

    Everything that we did - who your friends were, where you been to, what you did, why you did what you did, everything - was under the watchful eyes of the BIG BROTHER.

    I went to the United States precisely because, back then, the United States of America was the only country that could guarantee my freedom, because, back then, the government of the United States of America still had respect for The Constitution.

    I became an American citizen precisely because I found the freedom that I had longed for.

    That was back then.

    Not now.

    Nowadays, the so-called "freedom" has all but evaporated.

    When the prosecutors (or rather, persecutors ) can charge people with warrantless wiretaps , what is the difference between the United States of America and the former East Germany under Stasi or China under CCP ?

    Back when I became a naturalized citizen of the United States of America, my new government was still operating under the Constitution of the United States.

    No more.

    Under the Obama administration, I am sorry to say, the Constitution of the United States has become as valuable as soiled disposable diaper.

    As an American, I am sad.

    As one who was from an oppressed state, risking live in order to gain freedom, I am HORRIFIED.

    I am watching THE COUNTRY THAT I ADOPTED turning into just like the one I ran away from.

    While the idea behind utilizing the additive manufacturing technology in helping out emergency medical cases right inside the disaster area sounds probable, the title of TFA ( " Is 3D Printing the Future of Disaster Relief? " )is totally bonker.

    Whoever wrote TFA had never worked in disaster relief --- else the writer would know that the logistic requirement in association with the additive manufacturing (clean room, electricity supply, et cetera) is hard to come by in a true disaster scenario.

    That is why most of the seriously injured vitims were routinely been transported OUT of the disaster area because much better conditions exists outside rather than inside the disaster area.

    Plus, do not ever forget that additive manufacturing technology as what we have right now is SUPER SLOW.

    To print out a simple gadget takes hours.

    That is, you already have the configuration file ready.

    In an emergency situation, where can you find people who can produce the base file to make an implantable medical device ?

    And ...

    There are a lot nano-size DUST left over in the additive manufacturing process. That in itself creates another logistical headache for the disaster relief operation.

    I am an American staying outside America, and in my personal experience, most of the world people (non-Ameicans) do not seem to separate the American government from the people of the United States of America.

    In other words, the world at large treats what the American government did as if it was done by the citizens of America.

    It has embarrased the Obama administration, and destroyed his credibility with American allies.

    I am afraid that much more had been destroyed than Obama's personal reputation.

    First, it was Brazil. Then, France. Followed by Mexico, and then Germany.

    Data capping is not only about money

    It is also about restricting the spreading of information

    True, nowadays most of the data flow online are leisure vids (netflix, youtube et all) but ... critical vids, such as the ones that we got from area of conflicts, such as Syria, also consume up lots of data

    Capping of the data could restrict the spread of information as well

    Let's say there is something happening that the power-that-be does not want others to know, and it was an emergency and they did not have time to cut off the net feed ...

    Without data capping anyone with a net-enable smartphone can upload the critical vids and perhaps store it in an online cloud somewhere

    With data capping the power-that-be can, theoretically, get the ISP to stop the flow (even if they can't cut the net feed)

    Never trust the intention of the power-that-be
